If I try nightheaven, my client crashes as soon as the character-screen ppos up: Now - the issue is, I was loggin from my old iBook - which is a PPC (powerpc) CPU, so a non-intel laptop. there are only a few (very few) servers, where I can login and actually play (there is a WoTLK server, which I can also login to, but WOTLK is too demanding, only get like 15 FPS average) Please, please, I beg - can you tell, what´s the difference/setting/script on the PTR, that allows for my ppc to connect? I really try to find this out, for a looong time. I just resurected my old iBook and just love to play with this old POJ here and there. Maybe we/you can figure out, why I can not connect to other elysium-project-realms, besides the PTR?? Man this would be totally awesome, if we could manage this! This would be ultimate nostalgica-trip for me and many folks, that still have pre-intel macs floating around!!! Sometimes this can effect the client and cause it to crash. Also make sure your addons are not interfering with the loading of the client. I got no addons on this little iBook atm - but I deleted WDB and WTF folder, like you suggested.... but still crashes on character screen "Assertation failed". Error Code 0x85100086 and so on... Nighthaven keeps crashing my client, PTR just (still) works like a charm. even FPS wise (30-60 on this ancient machine) - would be awesome, to play on the main realm... Maybe this issue is caused by some kind of Anti cheat, that runs on Nighthaven, but not on PTR or something? When I connect with Windows client, Nighthaven works. Seems, it kind of dislikes PPC (non-intel) hardware?! but why??? edit: On PTR I get a crash as well, on 1st login after creating a new char. but then I can ignore it, client keeps working and the race´s intro video starts to play and on 2nd login, there are no more crash-reports comming up! Hater 14 Report post Posted January 19, 2019 I did some googleing on your issue, looks like corrupt fires, perhaps your WOW is pulling a corupt fire for Nighthaven. Elowan 1 Report post Posted January 20, 2019 hello - as I pointed out already, I can not login on Nighhaven - so I have no characters created on this realm - this "piece of gear issue" is not the problem, I believe. I really want to know, what's the problem. Would pay / donate for it, to be solved. Maybe I ask too much, but if possible - could you guys make another PTR, but without instant 60 levelup? The PTR #1 works perfect - so maybe clone that one, but set it up to not intstant 60 and see what happens? I know PPC is way outdated and dead - but so is WoW 1.x. To remember good old times, it would be fantastic to have a working server, where PPC users could connect. Maybe a few postings on the right websites could attract some more users. I´d like to play WoW 1.x for the memory and nostalgia - would be the perfect experience, if it would be possible with old gaming gear from the past. Elowan 1 Report post Posted January 20, 2019 As for a clean install: I still got the original WoW 1 CDS PC/MAc install around. The thing is, the old patches will be hard to get (for Mac). I don't know, what version is on these CDs, but I bet its not latest patch of WoW 1.x series. Elowan 1 Report post Posted January 20, 2019 (edited) The problem is, 99% of this clients are wine or modified Windows clients for modern intel-macs. Like I said, I want to run it on a ppc (non-intel) Mac. I think, the cd installer has a Mac and a win client - so all I need will be the patches. Elowan 1 Report post Posted January 21, 2019 (edited) So I managed to DL a full patched mac-client - but I still got the same issue. Can connect to PTR, but not to Nighthaven. How can I check, if my client is 100% o.k.? Like I said, I could re-install a fresh "vanilla" one from original discs, but patches are hard to impossible to get 😞 @Zancon hi - may you can tell the differences between regular and PTR realm? there must be some kind of setting, the let my iBook logon into PTR. I had a similar experience with a TBC, instant 70 fun server - could login, no problem. On a regular one, I can not enter the charater screen, just like here. You be my hero ! thanks a lot !!! Ok, maybe another difference is instant level 60 vs starting at level 1, right?! Seems, like some fun-servers or other server with instant max-level work as well - maybe it´s coincidence, but maybe this is the issue like I said - maybe you guys can clone PTR and set startlevel back to 1, for example? Zancon 117 Report post Posted January 21, 2019 Okay, so the answer is that Blizzard removed support for PowerPC and uses warden to enforce the restrictions. I installed wow from the CDs again, just to see it´s Version 1.6.1 mac ppc. but like I said, I got no patches to go up to 1.12.1 So "warden" causes the issue? hmmm, that´s stupid ^^ I understand, that you can not take it down from main Realm. Blizzard removed PPC support by end of WoTLK, Cata was Intel only... so I am a bit suprised, it is also removed on your wow 1.12.1 Well... then we can call this one /closed I think.
