Stress Test #1 Over! Reflections & What's Next

Recommended Posts

Dear players,

We want to thank you again for joining us today on the stress test. We're happy to announce that the test went very well, and we have all the data we hoped to gain from this initial test. We peaked at 7.500 players, and had over 20 thousand accounts created. We have already begun preparing for next week's test. We ask that you join us again this coming weekend to test the Nostalrius PvP & Elysium fresh realm hardware!  We expect to be able to hold double the amount of players with the next test, so make sure to fit it in to your schedule! The time will be the same as this week. Sunday, November 27th at 12:00 PM EST/18:00 GMT+1! Looking forward to watching the level one masses tackle the world!

Im not completely sure what is the point of this, i mean... you said you can hold 7,5k with this hardware, but lets be honest, it was completely unplayable there was a massive delay and a low distance with only 7k players only.

Want me to wipe off those tears for you? Cry more babe I'll catch all your tears in my handkerchief

Only at times, for me it was very playable and hella fun!

Where is server placed physically? I had ~150ms ping in late phase of test. How can I check the original ping to server, when will be launch?

You must be trolling... thousands of ppl logging in at the same time, thousands of ppl only spread over a few tiny starting areas? And you're complaining that it's not playable?

What exactly do you not get about the word "stress test"? It had nothing to do with a realistic situation actually happening on the pve server anytime soon.

Apart from that, the second hour of the stress test I could play just fine with a latency of 40-50ms, which is absolutely amazing, given that it was a stress test.

The point was to test the PVE server's hardware. While it was active under Nostalrius, the server had a peak of 4-4.5k players online. With the hardware capable of running almost twice that amount, we can suspect a smooth launch for the PVE server.

Glad to hear that you didn't run into any major problems :)

I'm very excited for a fantastic Vanilla community to be coming online so we can play the old game we love so much.

I'm sad I missed it, but I had to work :(

That was the amount it held before it finally crashed. The stress test was meant to stretch the server to it's limits to see how much it would take to crash it, so when it got closer to the maximum number then it would obviously be lagging if it was close to crashing. The point was too see how much before it would lag and how much before it would crash, so the fact that it had lagged and had crashed was a success. Now they know what parts were stressed the most, and what they should do to change that and what to avoid in order to make sure the server doesn't do that when the servers do go live. It was unplayable, but that was the whole point of it, so they know how to make sure the game isn't unplayable when the game launches. B)

"...We expect this server to cap out at around 5k players, and if it meets our expectations will use it for the smallest of the three realms."

Do you really like to be ridiculed in public? Make fun of yourself? huh? How's your real life? Trolling on the internet like this. sick neckbeard!

Misinformed does not equal troll. There is no need to be so rude, just inform him or you can ignore him. There is no need for hostility here, we're all brothers and sisters, banded together for our love of Vanilla WoW.

15,000 players online next week? Holy hell.

I'm glad the test has gone well. 100ms when there's 2000 people in a close radius to me, was good. I have high hopes for the server once it's launched.
