Stress Test #1 Over! Reflections & What's Next

Any chance the next stress test will be longer than 2 hours? Even if the test itself gets completed sooner this was actually a really fun event.

I believe it ends once the server has crashed, overheated, or can handle as much as it can. So if it is able to sustain us for longer than probably, but it's all up to how fast we break it, not on their stopwatch. (I could be wrong)

Edit: I am incorrect, thank you ninten for the correction

We peaked at 7500 players. But was this the number of players that was limited by elysium team or is that just the max number of players showed up at once for today's stres test? i mean if that was just the number of players showed up today then next week we won't reach double number of today.

And yea, battle for Duskwood bridge was epic today :D

15,000 players online next week? Holy hell.

I'm glad the test has gone well. 100ms when there's 2000 people in a close radius to me, was good. I have high hopes for the server once it's launched.

I dident have any lag and it whent smooth for me. only saw one little lag spike when we where running to stv and i saw some bodies floating around for a second

Didn't seem like it crashed to me. The shutdown was announced and the server didn't close until the countdown had finished.

Then I was incorrect. I'll edit it to state that and hide the message

Im not completely sure what is the point of this, i mean... you said you can hold 7,5k with this hardware, but lets be honest, it was completely unplayable there was a massive delay and a low distance with only 7k players only.

As someone that tested it, yes, the lag was bad around Elwynn where I was for it due to the massssssive number of people, but when I wandered out to Redridge and even Burning Steppes/Searing Gorge my lag went down to pretty much what I had on Nost, with mobs killing me while I was at it.

Dear players,

We want to thank you again for joining us today on the stress test. We're happy to announce that the test went very well, and we have all the data we hoped to gain from this initial test. We peaked at 7.500 players, and had over 20 thousand accounts created. We have already begun preparing for next week's test. We ask that you join us again this coming weekend to test the Nostalrius PvP & Elysium fresh realm hardware!  We expect to be able to hold double the amount of players with the next test, so make sure to fit it in to your schedule! The time will be the same as this week. Sunday, November 27th at 12:00 PM EST/18:00 GMT+1! Looking forward to watching the level one masses tackle the world!

The Elysium Staff

Would you consider giving everyone lvl 60 for the next stress test? The possibities would be endless...

It was limited - when there were 7500 players there was a queue to log in. When I queued to get in there were 2000 people in the queue, so that's 9500 people trying to play at the same time.

Misinformed does not equal troll. There is no need to be so rude, just inform him or you can ignore him. There is no need for hostility here, we're all brothers and sisters, banded together for our love of Vanilla WoW.

Where is server placed physically? I had ~150ms ping in late phase of test. How can I check the original ping to server, when will be launch?

My guess is France, possibly near Belgium.

Had fun but didn't stay logged on for all that long. In my humble opinion there needs to be a little more to do once you log in.

You can't kill enough mobs to reliably quest. There's no PVP to be had immediately upon logging in.

Again I know it's just a stress test but if you want to really peak the logged in population then you should consider what's going to keep people playing once they're logged on.

I think I saw 20-30 people sitting on top of Sarkoth waiting for him to spawn.

Nost 1.0 ip address -  178.33.122.86

Nost 2.0 ip address - 164.132.233.125 (currently)

It seems that nothing have changed. It is the same France operator OVH AS16276 which is announces both these prefixes.

I got hyped so much watching that massive force of players. Never seen this in retail wow. Anyway I only hope that the new server wont be shut down by blizzard. I can imagine when Naxxrams is released and everything working the way it was back days on retail vanilla player base to be like 30-50 000

Was great seeing so many people.  Keep in mind the only thing they wanted to do was pack the server with people to test hardware.  It might be crazy like this at the very start when the servers are brought up and everything launches but it won't stay laggy and overly crazy.  I'll be playing a lot at night myself because I'm a night owl so it will be nice for me :D

Yes, it is in France.

The old Nost server was hosted in France, but the French government was able to shut it down due to copyright laws there. They most likely moved it to a country where Blizzard can't stop them with copyright laws (I believe they can get away with it in Russia), but I know it's not France anymore at least.
