As much as I want to play, I hope the fresh PVP server will be released the latest, so there is no flood of 'temporary characters' being made on there. Fingers crossed.

I'd rather the fresh server came out first. I really don't mind the amassing of people. Plus, I am pretty sure that a lot of people are going to rush to the enemy start zones just to stir up trouble. I want it to be available by the 20th, which is when I have the house to myself for the holidays. .

 

    I turn 26 this Christmas Eve. I couldn't have possibly asked for a better present than a fresh Vanilla PvP WoW realm.

And I also question the post at all and wonder why it wasn't locked down.

Why?
Its simple.

There won't be a smooth launch ever. It's just not possible without adding temporary multiple servers or do a workaround like this. Say, the more time we get to wait, the more embarassing the release will come out....

So just start asap... maybe :-)

I'd like a release on my holidays on christmas aswell.

But it wont be done - simple because the overhead and amass of people while holidays would break even the login.

For me personal, thats why I hope they'll release it at least 1 week before christmas.

If they release it after... after my free days... vanilla is dead for me.

I would like to invest years into this. I dont know why i think this way. Just its the lastest date for me to start with this. I mean January is almost summer again... idk... idk why. its  just... i dont want it anymore later if i cant get in soon.....

This guy gets my point. The servers are gonna lag, disconnect and suck regardless of how much they stall the launch date, so they might as well open up now and let half of the people clear the starting zones. It's only gonna make it easier on the servers to fill starting zones gradually. Who cares if I got a head start and you didn't? It's gonna take both of us ages to level up anyway. This is vanilla after all.

I agree. We're going to have a rough start no matter what. Let's get the rough patch out of the way asap. Opening the servers now would bring mountains of people yeah, and that'd make it lag more, but I'd rather crash the server now and work on the kinks now than crash it later and work on the kinks then. I'd be happy if they got the fresh server out sometime next week.

I already decided to create a new character,so i'll try good old Nostalrius first (i have forgotten everything, this is a good chance to learn everything from scratch). As soon as the new server is ready, i'm going to create the same character from Nostalrius over there in order to live the true adventure from level 1 to 60. I don't plan to join a guild until level 60, so no worries about betraying a former group on Nostalrius when i join fresh Elysium pvp.

Elysium team announced their plans on November 6th, 2016, not even a month ago, and people are acting like crack heads and meth fiends.

 

I don't know what work is involved for the Elysium team, but I'm sure they have the best idea of what to do.

Given the events, I expect Nost. to drop shortly (days) after this week's stress test.

 

Much later will be increasingly disappointing. They know they murdered K2.

 

The other realms I'm sure will be as close to perfect as they can make them before release.

There seem to be 2 different camps here and I think what this post is trying to do is point out advantages of a quicker launch, but it would be much more informative if you would also point out the negative sides of a quick / the positive sides of a delayed launch.

 

I personally would say give time where time is needed.

 

And we all want to play, but why do we want to play on Elysium/Nost?

 

Because the server is populated, because we actually have a community. And this community is growing immensely maybe twice the people if not more.

 

We should be patient give them the time they need. If you think people can't wait that long and will raid on other servers, I don't know what to say, we are not talking about TBC Servers where there is not 1 big server like for Vanilla. I think people will wait. 

 

So tweak and fix and optimise even though it won't be perfect, every improvement will help us in the end

Mobas are PvP. No point in leaving PvP for PvP. If everyone left PvE servers, we could convert them to PvP servers, which is a win. Seriously if you're the enemy faction and I can't kill you, what's the point of even playing a game where 2 factions are at war with each other? PvE servers are like being in a candy shop with no money. That sweet sweet candy is right in front of you and you can't do anything about it. PvE realms cripple the difficulty by removing the biggest threat in the world, eliminating the need to watch your back and survive dangerous situations. You're fighting pre-programmed robots when you could be fighting intellectual beings.  IMO PvE players just like easy mode, therefore they should all stick to retail.

 

   Don'tcha think it'd be more exciting if the mobs had AI and could think for themselves the way that human players do? That'd be too hard though, they'd have to make a PvEPPO (PPO = Pre Programmed Only). I just don't understand why folks play video games on easy mode. Don't you like being challenged? Sure it's a game, for fun, but you're spending your precious time doing it so you might as well break a sweat.

Agreed. It's going to be hell either way. I gave up after my third disconnect. There's no fun to be had on the third stress test for me, but I will play the fresh server like a mother F'er even if it lags just as bad.

As far as I know, next Sunday we'll have another stress test. That means Nostalrius PvP will launch the 11th in the best case scenario. Now assuming there will only be one week between realm launches, that also means Elysium PvP will launch the 18th, and Nostalrius PvE the 25th.

 

Of course best case scenarios are unlikely, and we will probably have all realms open AFTER Christmas. There is no point in having people waiting for launch during the holidays only to open up right afterwards.

 

In my honest opinion, I think it would be a lot better to launch as soon as it is physically possible: next Monday or even today. I don't care about lag, disconnects, 2min rollbacks or any performance issues at all as long as I can start playing, and I assume lots of players feel the same way.

 

 

If you pre-launch now:

 

- Players who don't care about stability will be happy playing.

- Players who do care will simply wait a bit.

- In the meantime you'll get real stress results.

- Realms will work better on official launch date.

- Starting zones will not be crowded on launch date.

- We will be able to pick our realm now.

- People will not overcrowd 1st/2nd realm while waiting for 2nd/3rd to open.

 

If you wait:

 

- Players who don't care about stability will spend their Christmas moaning.

- Players who do care will simply wait a bit.

- You'll only get results on stress day.

- Unexpected issues may appear on launch date.

- Starting zones will be crowded and laggy.

- We will have to wait for our realm to open, while other people play.

- People will overcrowd the 1st/2nd realm while waiting for 2nd/3rd to open.

 

 

I see absolutely no reason for you to stall launch of all realms beyond next week. I honestly don't see how stalling would benefit anyone here. I'd say the smart move here would be to drop the "we will launch like this, on these dates, in this order, because that's the idea we have in our heads and we won't budge, regardless of how many petitions our community makes" mentality and consider all the things stated above.

 

After all, we know it's a private server and there will be issues. It's not like we will hate you or quit playing because of server stability during the first month. Go ahead and launch. You can do it.
