Limitless 6 Report post Posted December 13, 2016 Financial Report: Hardware Costs Greetings! Many of you have been asking questions about how we are funding the servers. During the stress test, all costs were handled by the staff. However, as launch is approaching, we turn to you for aid. Until now, we have had a hidden donation link where individuals could donate anonymously if they so wished. However, now we must ask for your help in maintaining the servers. We will always remain free to play, and never offer any sort of donation rewards. But as the project has grown astronomically with the merging of the Nostalrius project, this request has become a regrettable necessity. We are currently paying over 900 euros a month (620 from servers, plus additional fees for repositories, certificates, security features, etc), and this number will increase to over 1200 euros monthly with the release of the fresh server. We are all volunteers in this project. We have and will continue to contribute our own personal funds towards the hosting, but please understand that we cannot do it alone. We simply do not have the capability of doing so. We would also like to remind you that none of the funds contributed will ever go to an individual. Every cent will go directly to game server or web server upkeep. If you wish to help us, you have two options. Option one: The hosting company we are using allows for anyone to directly pay for server hosting. This way, you are able to renew the server. However, if you use this option, you must pay for the entire month, and not just a portion of it. Option two: If you wish to donate a smaller amount of your choosing, you may contribute to our Web Server Hosting. How to donate: Simply go to the control panel on our website, log in, and follow the links and instructions. In this time of need, we want to thank you all for your support and generosity. https://elysium-project.org/news/financial-report ''We are currently paying over 900 euros a month''

Garse 0 Report post Posted December 13, 2016 You should kinda allow people to pay less than 160€ for server upkeep, no one's gonna pay that much. Let people pay a couple of € at a time, I'm sure you'll be able to get enough!
Zealotz 0 Report post Posted December 13, 2016 (edited) Would it be a feasible to create some paypal account where we could give less than chunks of 310/150$ to keep the servers up ? I'd have loved to pay 15e monthly or so to keep that thing up but I can't really give much more.Or would it be impossible legally or something ? that would suck Edited December 13, 2016 by Zealotz

HDwarrior 20 Report post Posted December 13, 2016 And that was 15 euro each player (probably), and NOT 150 EURO every player.... read carefully...
Athena 3 Report post Posted December 13, 2016 That is for the web hosting and not for the servers The money covers about half their other costs anyway.

Zealotz 0 Report post Posted December 13, 2016 That topick made by not devs, search carefully... And that was 15 euro each player (probably), and NOT 150 EURO every player.... read carefully... I'd assume that some informations written on the Elysium forums must be relayed to the dev team. You're right though, that kind of suggestion would be best posted on the Suggestion subforum As for the rest, you should be reading carefully too. The money covers about half their other costs anyway. Yup it's the least most of us can do I guess.
Limitless 6 Report post Posted December 13, 2016 You should kinda allow people to pay less than 160€ for server upkeep, no one's gonna pay that much. Let people pay a couple of € at a time, I'm sure you'll be able to get enough! Before posting dumb things like that, you should read carefully. You can pay for the upkeep for the server or do small donations via paypal. Asking for money before we know what the gameplay is like seems very modern mmo to me. No one asks you to pay anything. You can do whatever you want with your money and still play on Elysium.

BabyPowder 0 Report post Posted December 13, 2016 if every1 donated half a euro or 1 euro, this server will be maintained for years. but am sure 90% wont donate, so lets say if 500 people donate 1 euro, then thats 500 euros per month plus the money you guys are already paying, thats enough to maintain it. will defo donate more than 1 euro every month. Have to support this.

Limitless 6 Report post Posted December 13, 2016 This is a good reason not to release a fresh server. The additional cost. That is one of the most selfish thing you've said.
Destron 2 Report post Posted December 13, 2016 Having posts deleted showing a slight opposition to this. Great sign. It should be noted that if the server is all it is I hope it will be I will probably be one to donate. Probably would be considered someone who would be a heavy weight donator. Silencing any opposition is a big red flag, especially for a simple forum opinion.
