GMs are doing poor job

It's a free server and these people are volunteers supposedly, but they are doing a very poor job handling ban appeals at least. Perhaps somebody at a higher level can read this and take notice of how they work

I created a ban appeal with a very simple question - why was my account closed? It took them 5 days to give a simple answer, and if it wasnt for me bumping my thread they would never answer it. Then I provided the info to review my ban, what did they do? They read it and ignored it for 4 days, then I bumped it after 4 days and in 10 minutes they gave a generic response - why didn't they do it earlier? - because somebody started to review it and it was complicated so he abandoned it at first, and then when I bumped it he decided to get rid of me quickly without properly reviewing my case

They have a "we dont give a ****" attitude, if you have that attitude, why volunteer?

In my personal experience, I would not bump things like ban appeals. They will get to it when they get to it, you don't deserve a higher priority than those that posted before you but just haven't bumped their thread... I believe that they are getting a lot of automated bans so they have a surplus of ban appeals right now.

As a former part of the nostalrius staff I can just confirm what Shiamorah said. Everytime you bump your, or someone elses, thread/ban appeal, you move further down in the line.

 

Staff goes from older pages to newer pages, not from new to old. Be patient once you have submitted a ban appeal and wait for their answer. Then provide additional information once they have asked you to do so. After giving more information they'll add you to the list of reviews.

 

Ban reviews usually take quite some time, depending on the actual ban reason. You already said, they are all volunteers and this is a free server.

 

The staff also does not ignore ban appeals or players, or specifically you. They answer when they are able to give a final answer. They won't tell you anything when they're not done investigating.

This is just incorrect, I waited for 5 days when some were getting replies after a few hours

So it was just a coincidence that they finished their investigation just in the 10 minutes after I bumped it for the first time in 4 days? I can give you a chance of that, its 10/60*24*4 = 0.2%

First: If they can reply immediately, they will do it. I have answered threads that were 5 minutes old too while 3 days or older threads were still open. It depends on the situation, as said before.

 

Second: They have list of reviews, as said. If your review is open, you have to be reviewed still. If its done, they dont immediately answer. They answer all appeals once all reviews are done, to save time. That also depends on the ban reason and situation etc...

First: I asked why was I banned, it was a simple question, took 5 days to answer, clearly they know immediately the reason why an account is banned

Second: So? You're still saying it was a coincidence, with the same chance

Maybe because 200 others were asking the same question.

Look, I know it must be frustrating being banned without knowing why, but you are not a special snowflake and there are hundres of others with same problem. You will just have to wait it out :-(

However, I do highly agree that the communication from the GM's should have been better (was there any at all?)

Hello Nelythia, 

Thank you for taking the time to post your information for those of who are seeking answers.  If i may ask,  Will we get a response eventually as to why the accounts were closed? i recall reading something about 30 days after request its ignored or something. I suspect i might have been part of the autoban waves not entirely sure why but besides that. I keep looking for some form of information. I understand it is a free service and i am thankful for that. Thanks again.

If you have an open ban appeal in the appropriate subforum, they'll answer you why your account has been banned and if the ban is confirmed or not.

 

"Not-confirmed" basically means that one of the protection systems banned you, they are pretty accurate but there are mistakes in such systems too.

Autobans are reviewed everytime, to make sure the system did not ban you by mistake.

 

Also the 1 month expiration is about the ban date. If you don't create an appeal within 30 days of your ban they'll most likely ignore the appeal.

 

Edit 2: Usually bumping your own appeal threads doesn't help, as said above. But if no GM responded to you after 8-14 days I would suggest to bump it once.

That's a very unfair statement to post.

Players don't get to see half of what the GM's are doing behind the scenes. They have a lot more on their hands than ban appeals to deal with.

I understand your frustration - however there are a lot of appeals to review with a volunteer staff. I've personally put more hours than I'd like to admit into reviewing appeals over the holiday season because of this other private servers database leak.

As for bumping - yes. If you bump, you'll just be pushing yourself down the list. We work from older to new. The only reason, I assume, you got a response is because a GM noticed your issue when reading a post and decided to try and assist you then and there. Not sure why you're complaining about being pushed ahead of thousands of other people.

Anyhow - at the end of the day, your account was banned for Real Money Trading. There's nothing we can do to unban you due to this.

I'm going to lock this post as it's getting off track - and really is not productive.
