PvE Pets for Hunter

Hey Guys

Can you tell me which pets is "the best" ( means most damage or usefull ) in a Raid/Dungeon and where do i find it.

Most of Players say brooken tooth but i will see your own oppinion.

And Yes im playing first time as a hunter.

I'll add my own question here instead creating new thread - is Alterac Valley wolf so fast it can catch epic mounts? It's PvE section all right, I thought it must be worthwhile to go into AV to tame it. :)

DKD420, I usually run a wolf in raids because pets are squishy and die to aoe abilities.  The wolf's Furious Howl provides bonus damage to your next attack and has a 10s CD.  Dungeons are more forgiving, so you can run other pets for straight dps.  I know Cats (like broken tooth) are among the highest output of dps, but most people covet broken tooth in particular because of his 1.0 attack speed, which is very nice when disrupting casters in pvp.

BogyOne, I haven't personally tried the wolves from AV, but I also haven't seen any super speedy ones racing on the server.  I remember that particular bug during retail (and it was glorious!), but Blizzard fixed it and private servers such as this don't normally go out of their way to re-introduce such bugs.

Wolves are absolutely NOT worth it if you're going to keep it by your side the whole time. Send it in to melee so it can buff itself and the four melee that should be in your group.

Max out your pet's stamina and pick some good resistances, and micro it appropriately. Sure, Shazzrah or Vael might still murder your pet, but you can keep it alive on most other fights, trash or boss, with a little micro. 20/31/0 is the standard raiding spec for a reason, y'know!

@DKD420 - Lupos is the best pet until he's nerfed. On Anathema, I believe he was nerfed when the AQ pre-patch was released, but I don't remember for sure. Nowadays I use a wind serpent, and I'm very fond of it. Therefore, I would recommend giving a wind serpent a try as long as Lupos is nerfed. And if ZG isn't out, wait for it because the only place you can get rank 6 Lightning Breath is from ZG!
