Seabass7857 0 Report post Posted January 11, 2017 Hey guys, First time I'm leveling a Shaman in Vanilla and was curious which skills you all think could be skipped during leveling? Currently level 14 so I don't have a ton to begin with but I'd rather be able to save a bit of silver and eventually gold. For example I've stopped leveling Earth Shock as I only use Rank 1 as a cheap interrupt. Let me know! Thanks, Seabass
gotmilk0112 10 Report post Posted January 11, 2017 (edited) You can skip/ignore: -Elemental resistance totems (not really useful until 60) -Water Walking (Water Breathing however, is insanely useful) -Higher ranks of rez spell (you really only need rank 1) -Higher ranks of Frost Shock (they just do more damage, not increased slow) -Flametongue totem (Windfury totem is infinitely better and you get it 2 levels later) -Rockbiter Weapon ranks 3 and higher (using daggers+flametongue is arguably the best until you get windfury, and rockbiter is useless after that) -Far Sight (kinda useless spell, for the most part -Sentry Totem (see above) -Disease/Poison cleansing totems (very niche uses) And probably a few others. There's a lot of Shaman spells that are pretty useless while leveling. Edited January 11, 2017 by gotmilk0112
ValarMorghulis 2 Report post Posted January 11, 2017 To the mentioned above I'd also add: - Earth Shock above rank 1 - same as with Frost Shock, you only need the interrupt, not the increased dmg - most of the totems - while leveling I only use: Searing, Mana Spring, Strength, Windfury, Grace of Air, Grounding and the slowing one (binding?) - I would even argue you can skip Lightning Bolt and Chain Lightning unless you wanna tryhard with elemental leveling ;)
gotmilk0112 10 Report post Posted January 11, 2017 (edited) Yeah, I rarely use Lightning Bolt, only using it to pull mobs from 30yds if I really need to. So I guess if you really wanted to save as much gold as possible, you could skip it. But of course, I play on the PvE server, so I don't have to worry about enemy players. Seabass7857 0 Report post Posted January 12, 2017 Awesome, thanks for the responses. I'll focus on my main abilities and only train the odd ones when needed.
Rayaleith 2 Report post Posted January 13, 2017 Are you sure about frost shock ranks or even LB? It is indead for kiting but what are you left to when wpvping while leveling?

I agree, I take the higher ranks of all the shock spells for this purpose.
Egregious 1 Report post Posted January 19, 2017 You definitely should get the higher ranks of shocks. Maybe you want to interrupt and do actual damage at the same time. Maybe you want to slow and do actual damage at the same time. Maybe you want to ranged pull something and actually do damage at the same time. Also it's good for WPvP.

seeth07 1 Report post Posted January 20, 2017 Couldn't agree more dumbatz. The 20 percent increase is nice but not necessary. We do just fine getting around Azeroth
