Tornadari 2 Report post Posted January 12, 2017 Can we not? All this is going to do is dilute the server population a few months down the line. It solves the immediate problem but it will harm Elysium PvP and it's longevity. This kneejerk reaction instead of waiting a few weeks for the population to normalize is an awful awful awful idea.
dahlblom 4 Report post Posted January 12, 2017 Based on what? If anything this is the stable and viable option in the long run given the fact of a stable 20k+ pop for 2 weeks.
Tornadari 2 Report post Posted January 12, 2017 It's been one week. This is not viable and stable long term. Most of these people are not going to stick around given previous evidence (Nostalrius original launch). Vanilla does not have good player retention. Further splitting the server populations will do more harm than good long term.

Tornadari 2 Report post Posted January 12, 2017 I respectfully disagree. The vast majority of the players on Elysium PvP will not be sticking around to 60, This is a kneejerk reaction.
Everquest 7 Report post Posted January 12, 2017 Tell that to the 10k players in queue and the who knows how many more that hit the cancel button because they don't want to deal with that crap. A new server is the only solution.

There are no prior events that could relate to this incredible persistent population. Nostalrius release? Really? It was the start of what we are experiencing now.
Nocturn 4 Report post Posted January 12, 2017 Yeah cause i guess more new players won't come. wait... is this a new server?? oh no its a 4th in less than 2 years.......
Quiji 3 Report post Posted January 12, 2017 (edited) So let's say you are right OP. The new server is released and at first the population is ~11k for both servers. A few months down the line the populations of both servers decrease by 4k (that's being SUPER generous to your theory) That leaves both servers at roughly 7k people online at a time on each server. How on earth is that a bad thing???? Edited January 12, 2017 by Quiji
Alrik 6 Report post Posted January 12, 2017 Yea you know, Nost started with like couple k people. It went steadily up to 10k on PVP, then PVE came it went still up and up and up. Now the fresh Server hit and there are aprox. 20-25k People that want to play there, even if 50% of them quit for good you have 2 Servers with 5-6k Pop. Thats around the sweetspot of Pop.
Velgana 1 Report post Posted January 12, 2017 It is a great idea imo. The population will become stable in a few weeks and have the perfect amount of players on each realm.

Thinking that you will retain 7k active players months down the line is extremely optimistic considering most people playing on these vanilla private servers never reach 60.
Nocturn 4 Report post Posted January 12, 2017 Im hyped, should have a nice stable pop on both servers.

Stormhart 12 Report post Posted January 12, 2017 It's a good idea if they look into options to merge the servers later down the line if the hype drops.
Nelythia 44 Report post Posted January 12, 2017 All of the "old fresh will die" guys are dumb. A pop of 1k-2k is already HIGH POP. Blizzlike Vanilla had 2.5k MAX pop possible on a server. Stop crying about your 10k pop that won't happen after a while. Even if it goes down to 4k or 5k you still have a DECENT population, the servers are still good to play on. And if worst comes they can merge both fresh anyways.

Merges are not possible for a number of reasons. All you had to do was wait a month for the people who can't handle the grind to quit and the population would stabilize.

That makes no sense! we don't want them to quit! we want those players to play! They won't just leave because of the leveling to 60. They leave because of the ridiculous queue! Make Blizzard see how many people want Legacy! Edited January 12, 2017 by Everquest
