Fury DW VS 2h

Recommended Posts

So I've played nothing but a warrior during Vanilla, Retail and Private Servers. In an older private server ( Emerald Dream ) I was experimenting with 2H vs DW Fury until lvl 51 where I stopped playing, and Fury was just better in leveling. Then I started playing on Elysium, as soon as I hit 20 and could DW I tore through mobs so much easier and faster. Smoother rage and damage, overall good. It's gotten even better now that I have Sword of Serenity and Vanquishers Sword. Yeah, every 1/4 mobs I'll miss a couple of times in a row. If you've pissed off RNG you might miss a ton. Hell, I've even tore through a warlock 4 levels higher than me with hardly any misses. (He has raid experience, he's not trash or anything.) So I don't see what people are complaining about.

People seem to think DW as Fury compared to 2H Fury is either bad or terrible, but it's just as good if not better but they seem to refuse to believe/accept it. What do you guys think about them, if they're both equal or if 1 is just better then the other, and why you think so.

Depends on the level difference between you and the mobs.   Dual wield is better on low level mobs.

Fury has better end-game. If you can get good two weapons for DW then go for it. 2H is just cheaper when leveling since you don't have to maintain two weapons and with 30 comes Whirlwind which just carries you into late 40's with ease.

Fury dual-wield leveling only works well if you have blue weapons and can keep them updated every 3-4 levels. And yeah, it only works really well against mobs that are below your level. If you go against equal level, or +1 / +2 mobs, you're going to get to watch a stream of dodge/parry/miss.

People mostly go 2h because of Whirlwind Axe, and the easier progression between upgrades. You can go WW Axe -> Stoneslayer/Rockbiter/Executioner Axe -> Ice Barbed Spear. From level 30 to level 60, only 3 weapon upgrades and they're all easy to get. That and, on PvP servers, Arms is much better, but Arms only works well with 2h, so...yeah.

I too found dual-wielding to be noticeably better and smoother to play than 2h around level 20-30, but once you hit 30, WW Axe becomes king until level 38 or so, seeing as it's a level 40 weapon.

Dual wield leveling isn't bad, it's just not as good overall.

I just started playing a warrior, should I just start spec'ing into fury from the start? I plan on using DW because it looks like a lot of fun. I just don't want to spec into something and have to change it once I hit 20

ED EU veteran perhaps? :)

I have an impression (until I level up to confirm) that Fury specific talents don't fit 2H perfectly: not increased parry chance, extra rage from frequent attacks, if memory serves Flurry is also reducing swing time and due to that weapon damage.

You go full Fury 1-39 then respec Arms at 40.

Pretty much opposite for me. 1-39 arms 2h, 40-60 2h fury.

Numbers-wise, Fury is superior to arms, pre-40. Enrage and Flurry far outweigh the bonuses you get from Arms. Hell, for pure grinding/questing, Fury is the best all the way to 60.

Arms isn't bad, pre-40, Fury is just a little better. But if you've got a super slow (3.8 or higher) weapon, Arms is better, mostly due to Anger Management and Mortal Strike.
