The Nost team HAD to know they would get another cease & desist, so they planned it out so that people would have at least two-weeks to a month to transfer characters and start up on Elysium, KNOWING that at some point that letter would come. At which point, they would HAVE to stop transfers and make a public announcement in good faith. Ask everyone to not play any longer and please, Elysium wink wink, stop using our database and code. And Elysium would respond, "ofcourse, we've already transitioned all your fixes to our own code, we will change the name of the servers. No problemo guys. We'll go ahead and keep the characters already transferred though." Lets Nost off the hook and if Elysium doesn't care about C&D, bam.

Elysium wouldn't have to change up anything (whose going to check on the code?), have a 30 minute downtime to rename servers, voila. Brilliant.

I wish everybody would just settle on this instead of crying all day long on the forums and ingame tbh

Why would anyone settle on what is obviously the lunatic ramblings of someone who has no idea of what he's talking about? The only thing he's partially right on is Elysium keeping the code, because if they were smart they'd have copied over what they needed as soon as they had access. The Nost team isn't that clever, they're just virtue signaling because their bid for jobs at Blizzard didn't work and they don't want to keep the scene going.

I think it is quite clear that Blizzard doesn't want to make Legacy servers for whatever reason. There is absolutely no reasoning behind what Nostalrius was trying to push. Private servers setting back the case of Legacy? How exactly? Are you really so delusional to think that Blizzard legitimately gives a shit about whether or not there are private servers? They don't do Legacy because they don't think that they'll make enough money with it. Sure, Legacy community is big, but making servers for a game that is decade old is a hassle and takes a lot of resources. And even then, Legacy community isn't as big as the main WoW one, and there is no way to see how many would pay.

And to those who say that we "need a Blizzard Legacy server because we need higher quality" - think again. Blizzard doesn't have Vanilla code anymore. If they had, they would've made Legacy already. So best case scenario is that they get Nostalrius core and call it a day. And then we'll have a private server that we'll have to pay for. Same quality as before, but now you pay a company that doesn't give a fuck.

It's sad to see so many people with a common interest be so ugly and hateful to each other.  I know it's the Internet, but man, imagine how good the community would be here if there wasn't so many beta males trying to act Internet tough.  most of these post sounds like some twilight teeny bopper stuff fighting over team Edward and team Jacob.  Just play and try not being so angry.  It's bad for your health lol

Of course Blizzard will release legacy servers, but they want to do it when it suits them, which is probably when they stop doing new expansions.

All we can do is to show there is a demand by playing on the Elysium project and we can hope that maybe Nost has convinced Blizzard to bring forward their plans to open legacy servers much sooner than they thought they would be.
