Paladin <--> shaman

Recommended Posts

Original Post was made in the Paladin Forums. Seems like an unfair post since it should be in both Forums.

Would you exchange your pala for a shaman? For all aspects. Leveling, PvP, Pve

Hell no. Why would i ever wanna be a pally. A shaman can do it all. You are choosing between the best pvp class and the worst.

Pally has no speed buffs. Pally has no range. Pally has no slows. Pally literally has no melee special attacks, like shaman, except shamans windfury makes up for it since it can wtfboom 1 shot kill.

Only thing pally has over shaman is defeneses over physical classes and a bubble. Aside from that, you are nothing. Literally the worst class in the game for pvp and pve alike. Heals and buff bot is the only thing youre good for.

Well, in premade PvP paladin > shaman for healing and keeping the team alive. Therefore if people are diehard PvP healers, paladin all the way.

     I am still leveling my shammy, but in Vanilla, I PvPed a lot on pallys, including 19 and 29 brackets. Pallys have a bubble, instant full heal and plate for good survivability. With the talents I always picked up, I had an 8% boost to speed always, indoors and out. Popping Blessing of Freedom will break movement issues and you have a seal to slow with, too. SoC may not be the same as a chain of Enh procs, but can still get some nice hits out of it.

     As far as the shammy goes (in my leveling exp so far), it has more versatility as you can do melee or ranged pretty well. Totems and shocks have a wide variety of buffs and effects for any situation. Both classes have decent heals.

     Overall, I think pally's are harder to kill, but shammys have more DPS and burst to kill with. I am enjoying both so far, but seemed like pallys are more forgiving and noob friendly.

Elemental/Resto shaman over any pala spec.

Pala=defensive where as shaman is attack

Ele shaman has burst as well as plate gear since u normally wild a shield which makes u kinda like a plate.

Shaman having purge to remove shields/buffs/bubbles , totems to remove fear+searing totem to kill rogues , aoe slow totem , earthshock to interupt casters with a low cd , frost shawk.. , ghost wolf reaching 55% move speed , elemental in top 3 burst in 1 vs 1 , aoe heals , self rez  is too much to loose out for a pala mainly being a buff bot and ret being terrible so reckoning in pvp is the only way and that sux against casters...

Good replies guys, it's nice to see some different opinions since the other thread was all about Paladins

(but it was in the paladin forums)

I am leveling as elemental and its great so far. Shocks and totems bring versatality and survivalbilty to the table. Purge is usefull against most classes.

I have no experience with paladins, but they seem to lack a gap closer and any form of reliable ranged abilities (not sure if it's true).
