During the first toons levelling I had to suffer non stop gold selling and non stop levelling services spam. spam. spam... spam.. spam... spam... spam.. is it annoying yet? spam... spam.. spam.. spam. Why is there no IGNORE feature. yes I know this did not exist in actual vanilla but playing on a server that does not implement this feature is NOT FUN. Also, I already have one toon over level 10, if i roll a new toon that toon should NOT be penalized and not allowed to communicate in game. I logged out. Im staying logged out tiill you implement an ignore i.e. I probably wont be back. I play on other servers so im not missing anything except... THE SPAM!!!!!!!!!!!! you have a good server going here but it has extreme annoyances. You want to gain a user base and NOT lose them to constant "buy me now, buy me now, buy me now, buyt me now"... then implement spam protection. Allow ALL users to block unwanted messages. Shiamorah 20 Report post Posted February 2, 2017 I understand your frustrations. There is a level of illegal content that you can't avoid, or at least I haven't found how to. This being when they mail you (my hero...) But Erjh8765 is correct, I downloaded the addons spamthrottle and do not get any whispers or anything anymore from gold sellers. You can also configure it to automatically ignore any chat involving certain phrases. I don't have much of a problem anymore with these types of players. You can report them of course to get them banned, they can only whisper once they are level 10, so it is definitely worth it to report them. Also. 3600 seconds is NOT long enough, ive suffered constant spam from the same spammer for hours on end telling me that NOBODY is monitoring this situation at all. IF the GMs dont give a crap why should I play here? Ill go play on wow-mania where i already have 1 level 80 and 7 level 70's. You think Im going to level that many toons here through the constant spam your nuts. NOT happening. If there was no spam I can guarantee I would have every class except druid and pally max level and geared - eventually. Shiamorah 20 Report post Posted February 2, 2017 The staff here have been very clear on their pursuit of eliminating these players, to suggest they are allowing spam is ridiculous. The only reason that security is so 'shoddy' here has nothing to do with this server at all, it has to do with servers completely unrelated to this one being compromised and account details leaked, and from there hackers can compromise accounts. They have handled this situation as best as they can, and where they haven't been able to, they rely on the player to either report them, or download an addon which will easily handle the situation. 0 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
mark4th 0 Report post Posted February 2, 2017 I did not say that accounts were stolen here due to security flaws, i said that the GMs are not doing enough to monitor the spammers and i absolutely stand by that accusation. Reporting a spammer does not result in that spammer being insta banned, it never does, it never will and thus... thats NOT a solution to the problem. THE solution is to implement a built in PERM ignore such as the one on later versions of retail. P.S. an addon is NOT the solution. - the "ignore" feature on retail not only adds that player to your ignore it also REPORTS the abuse. IF there is anyone monitoring these reports that player is booted in short order (though rarely is that instant). I have no problem what so ever with deleting my toons and deleting my account here. im not emotionally attached to this game the way i was in actual vanilla, i play an hour or 2 a day max and not every day. It does not matter to me how "good" a game is, if I have to suffer spam that there is no reliable way to block FOR EVER then the game is garbage. PERIOD. Yes I know the fan bois are now all going to come out of the woodwork and tell me they love it even with the spam and thats fine. I on the other hand cannot abide the non stop annoyance of the spammers where i have absolutely NO reliable way to block them. A little understanding that people are donating their time for you to play on a free server, in a free game, that things won't be perfect. If installing that 3rd party addon makes you happy and solves the problem for you thats great. I however feel that it is a non solution. In your social panel, under the "friends" tab, there's a second tab for "ignore". You click ignore player and then either type in the player's name or right click their name in the chat log and bam, you see nothing from that person ever again. Muldreg 3 Report post Posted February 3, 2017 You could always just turn off Whispers all-together and just resort to using /s, /g, /y, /1, etc. No add-ons required! Or you could just get an add-on like everyone else has mentioned and stop complaining. I agree the spam while I was at the lower levels was pretty annoying, but it wasn't so bad that I wanted to tear my eyes out. You see the message, you ignore it, and move on. I have made it into my 30s, play for 1-2 hours a day and see maybe two whispers from gold spammers anymore. It is fairly easy to ignore. Gold spam is always a problem because people buy gold and services because they are available and easy. Blame those people for the gold spammers, stop blaming volunteers who I am sure have a million things to be looking at on top of all the gold spam complaints. 0 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
