Just a heads up about the Gold buying Bans

My account got banned and through the appeals process, I found that the game masters believe I had bought gold and so denied my appeal. 

I did not have any really high-level characters only really will miss the character names, so no huge loss but I figured I would post so the game masters would know that whatever methods they are using to identify gold buying may not be perfect. 

I never bought any gold for any game including this one.

If I am the only false positive then no big deal but I just wanted to make sure game masters know about this so it doesn't happen to anyone else.

I will be making a new account and will continue playing by the rules. Keep up the good work.

Just curious here:

What level characters did you have and how much gold in total? 

What was your main source of income (for example farming X with method Y or just questing ) ?

Did you make any extremely good deals on the AH (selling or buying)?

I think my highest level character was like 17. There may have been like 2g between all my characters. I only really play like one weekend a month. I have no idea why they would think I was gold buying, but according to the ban appeal, they "validated" it.

Your account may have been hacked and the hackers used it for gold selling, mule, etc.

I got banned today for simply saying "Hey the G4WOW spammer is here in Sentinal Hill by the mailbox" in general chat today.  The second i hit enter, my account was logged out and put under banned status.  This is rediculous, and now im being told it could be 3-7 days before I get an appeal..

True, but an insta ban for saying "hey that g4wow spammer...." is a little rediculous.  I could see it being a mute or a temp suspension on first offence.  It was more of a "hey theres that guy sending me all that spam!"  moment.  Now i have to wait 3-7 days for an appeal and with tomorrow being my only day off for the rest of the month, im very saddened.

I believe the same thing happened to me. I am currently in the appeals process with no response but one day I was playing just fine and the next I was banned with no reason or email. I know my account was compromised about a month or so ago but since then have had the 2 factor authentication activated. I've been seeing many other posts about random bans for no reason. I have not hacked, bought gold, scammed, exploited, or have done anything that would result in a ban. I believe there is a flaw in their system and people are being wrongly banned. Some dev/GM input would be great.

 

Edit: My character that I was currently playing was level 41 (no mount yet) with ~80 gold so a pretty normal amount for my level.

Yeah, unfortunately with all of this going on and seeing it happen to a ot of people I am not so excited about this server anymore.  If I can be banned for days at a time for a simple word slip up or randomly like everyone else, I dont think I am going to play.  Sad, though, that they have to be like this on a private server

well, at least the problem has been completely solved and the GMs heavy handed and indiscriminate approach stopped all insentives to sell and buy gold.

Yeah, it took about 4 days to hear back about the appeal. I mentioned that it could have been hacked, but they just said it had been validated and to make a new account and follow the rules.

Yeah, they are a bit heavy handed in banning people. Not even blizzard was so hard the first time around... I do not condone buying gold or hacking peoples accounts. 

I got my account banned cuz my son decided to play my character while I was away and he brought gold. After I explained to him the methods people go about getting the gold and that it was against TOS and it got my account banned. He felt bad, Im sure he got the message. 

The GM told me I shouldn't had left my son play my account that was a bannable offense. To that, I found laughable at best. I offered to donate and for them to if possible roll back my character. No luck... these guys are tougher then the CIA. 

I will miss my character and I have since created a new account and my son will NOT have access to him... maybe. =P

I just got my account closed and I think its because I failed authentication like 10 times.

I sold a few days ago a flurry axe for 100g hope they dont think thats gold trading lol. It literally is pre raid bis for orcs.

Me and my guild have sold plenty of stuff for way higher prices. Don't worry. I'm still in doubt if everyone in this thread is 100% honest.

Compared to the numbers logging into the game ( at the moment 15K over 4 servers), the numbers of people claiming to have been banned for no reason is tiny.

Believing that everbody who says they are innocent is innocent is a bit naive. People who have admitted to buying/selling gold in the past have said that they try the I'm innocent route because it sometimes works and they get unbanned.

This have both sides, there are some peoples who just got banned for no reason (maybe AH bargain, forbidden string in chat or something which caused to ban by system).

There is problem because amount of players is way higher than peoples who run server and this requires automation of some things, automation will never be perfect. Peoples try innocent route becasue they have nothing to lose even if they lie.
