Dismount

Dear Elysium Staff,

 

I do clearly recall it's been always the case when I wanted to polymorph someone with my mage in the good old days from my Skeletal warhorse, all I had to do was to STOP and cast my spell. Without stopping properly the game simply said you cannot do while moving. I noticed this server does neither let you cast instant spells then dismount you, nor let you cast anything else even after stopped but simply saying you are mounted.

This is not just inconvenient but not representing the true vanilla gaming experience either so therefore I'm making a suggestion on changing the way it works in your emulation.

I will give you some instances from my experience how it worked so you may set up the logic behind properly:

• Instant spells like Presence of Mind could be casted even while mounted so while I was riding my horse I could put it on if I wanted
• Any spell cast with Presence of Mind ON did dismount and cast the spell
• Other instant spell types like Mana shield for example did dismount instantly tho from the mount
• Collecting herbs, using items like treasure chests did not work while mounted, those required manual dismount

I think I covered it all but if not, please do not hesitate to put your thoughts in here down in the comments.

Hopefully this will be covered soon and as a Shaman now I can also jump off my raptor with pulling up my lighting shield in the air like all other shamans did back in time.

How I remember it:

- You were never able to cast spells on a mount.
- You did not dismount after using an instant spell (addons do that for you)
- You cant collect herbs, open chests or whatever with mount, and indeed it doesn't auto dismount you. Addons do that.

So yeah long story short, get an addon to do that for you, and you were never able to cast spells on a mount without dismounting in vanilla.

I appreciate your contributions in the form of comments, it can happen that the old Curse packs contained something that made it so easy. I will look it up and sorry if this post was so inappropriate.

You're thinking of TBC where instant abilities would instantly dismount and cast while mounted.

Note the dates of the version history. Vanilla WoW didn't dismount you to cast, requiring add-ons like this to accomplish it instead. You probably had one, which is what you're remembering.
