New to the realm

Recommended Posts

Hello!

First off, I'm sorry if the questions will be dumb, but I haven't played Vanilla since it was up on Retail. Now me and few my acquintances are thinking of coming back to Vanilla. We are still looking what server to pick. No matter which one we do, the questions remain the same, so I hope you'll help me :)

1) What are the differences between the 4 Elysium realms?

2) I'm coming from WotLK and Retail Legion. By what I remember, many classes in Vanilla had relatively very few buttons. Therefore, which one could be considered most interesting class/spec to play? (My main since Wrath has been ret/prot paladin, fire mage and resto sham, in case it's any indication of the playstyle I enjoy)

3) In Wrath of the Lich King the way in PvE more or less was OS>Naxx>Ulduar>ToC>ICC>RS. What's the PvE way in Vanilla?

Thanks in advance!

Hi and welcome!

  1. PvP settings, age, peak online
  2. Any class can be turned into 1button mashing. Choose anything you like most.
  3. Ragefire Chasm>Wailing Caverns>Deadmines>...>ICC

1. Thanks!

2. That was the thing I did not enjoy (well, except mage, and also because of procs). Which is why I pointed out which I play on Retail (in case any in Vanilla has similar playstyle). Also, any that would be easier specifically to people new to Vanilla? (as far as I remember, it was the hardest version of WoW)

3. ICC in Vanilla? Or you misunderstood my question? (as far as I recall Molten Core was the last part of Vanilla, but I might be very wrong, correct me in that case please).

And thanks, hopefully I'll manage to make them come here :)

To answer question 3.  Raid order in my original vanilla guild was ZG (when opened)>MC>BWL>AQ>Naxx.  I guess it's the same now (haven't joined a raid guild yet) though some realms do not have ZG available.

In regards to your second question...

As Ret / Prot arent very viable end-game you may be interested in Rogue /  Warrior if youre into the DPS scene.  As there are indeed fewer buttons that doesnt really mean much.  The buttons we have all get used at some point.  Until WOTLK id say maybe an addition 10 got added so its not a very huge difference.

As far as interesting class... its really a personal thing.  Do you like to DPS? Heal? Tank?  If you are into tanking Warrior is the way to go.  Healing you get 3 options with Priest - Druid - Paladin (which i hear are heal gods), as far as DPS all servers lack warlocks...  We always lock Healers/ Tanks and Locks for some reason, and I just heard mages are low as well sometimes.  Give them a try!

rogue = SS, SS, SS, SS, SS, Slice and Dice, SS, SS, SS, SS, SS, Eviscerate. repeat step two until slice and dice is no more. pretty much all that is. overpopulated.

mage = Frostbolt and give everyone food. enough said. ezpz class. overpopulated.

shaman =  drop that MF totem, chain heal.

paladin = idk alliance is gay.

warlock = summon raid, sacrifice pet, shadowbolt into oblivion.

hunter = i actually don't know.

warrior = shield block, revenge, sunder armor.

druid = again i don't really know. heal. underpopulated.

priest = heal.

EDIT- this is end game raiding

So much more then that.

Shield Slam and Heroic Strike should be on your regular rotation if you don't want people to complain about your tps. DS and BS should be up whenever you can. Accessible key-bind macro to dance stance and intercept when needed. Few defensive cool downs, few short time cc...and on top of that you have to anticipate patrols, potential ass pulls and other mistakes...All in all, very fun to play.

Based on what I've read so far (not just in this forum):

most fun healer - shaman
most needed healer - druid
only viable tank - warrior
best dps - mage
most fun dps - warlock
Did I understand you correctly?

Change best DPS to warrior aswell. No other class can really compete actually.
