Elysium server is not PvP...

Recommended Posts

Because there is no comparison. Retail vanilla realms had tiny populations which were also largely concentrated in the timezones that they would play. Like NA realms and EU realms and so on. Then, to make it even more different, only a small portion of the playerbase engaged in PvP ranking.

But here, we have tens of thousands of players on both Anathema and Elysium, most of whom know the value of the gear obtainable through ranking, who are spread all over the planet meaning that BGs are active 24/7. The difference is gigantic - the honor caps are massive compared to retail.

What THAT means is that many players are willing to do anything to make the grind faster and/or easier. If they allowed multi-queue, wintrading and premade-dodging (which already are an issue) would come back with a vengeance. We'd be back to 5-man "premades" that would dodge each other and only fight pug groups, that they would still stomp to death. Puggers would quit ranking or just be AFK in graveyard even more than they are now. Majority of games would be 3-0 WSG and 5-0 AB fights. The few people who actually want to fight competitive PvP games would be fucked over. The PvP scene would be nothing but a contentless grind. And I know this because that's exactly what happened on Nostalrius and is the reason why they eventually disabled multi-queue and is the reason why Elysium had multi-queue disabled from the start.

At least without multi-queue, the only people getting fucked are twinks. Enabling multi-queue for sub-60 brackets could fix that.

Another example of how everybody thinks people in 2005/6 were retards, writing notes on stone walls.  You do know math was a thing 12 years ago.

It wasn't hard to "know" that 40 str 1 crit and 40 AP set bonus >  20 str, 20 agi.        2 is a bigger and better number than 1 in terms of stats.   This isn't a new concept.

Topics ranging from every aspect of the game ensure to belittle the IQ levels of the past.   From PVP topics like this, People didn't know R13 and R14 was good, or caster 2 set bonus... yeah ok....     Or topics on raiding, "people didn't speed run because there was no realmplayers", yeah again wrong.  But then why are their guides on how to Speed Up Molten Core?   Or people didn't bother raiding with full buffs and what not, yet the majority of videos of raid encounters from back then have raids with full buffs.     Or did warriors not know that stacking AP and STR is better than stacking more Int/Spirit?

The PVP system for Vanilla was always to limit the amount of R14s to no more than 1 per faction per 1 week.    Just because the caps on servers where not as high as they are here doesn't mean there wasn't a lot of people active.  Blizzard's first quarter numbers stated 800,000 subscriptions on 80 servers.  The person who tried the hardest, put in the most effort, ect.   Only if they continue to hold that same R14 spot for multiple weeks does the ranking system then start to be more painful.

The honor cap is SUPER high right now, yes.   One of R14s honor capped his last week at 845,000 around November of 2015 when there was always 9K+ players.  A large portion of ranking community were doing things correctly back then.

You create a scheduled list of whom is to hit R14, and you create a reachable benchmark for honor of what that should be.  You take turns hitting that honor cap and if you are not up next for R14 and caught getting additional honor you were out of the circle.  This system works, it allows you to set the cap, and keeps high rank enough out of reach from the casual player-base.

What caused the honor cap to more than double?   Greed, character selling, and entitlement.    Rather than joining the ranking community and participating in the circle of alternating Rank 13/14s with a modest honor cap, people didn't want to wait "their turn".  They would go beyond the set cap for their rank, causing a domino effect of people above them to do the same to ensure the line wasn't broken.     Character selling is a HUGE factor of why the honor cap is high.    The biggest jump in 1 week honor cap went from 845,000 honor to 1,200,000 in 1 week.  Certain demographics known for out of game exchanges had set a new honor cap well beyond what was used for months.

By comparison with retail, I was an active PVPer on my mage on a very busy server (750 queues on raid nights), the honor cap was around 900,000 post Naxx. Having a full time job, it wasn't something I could reach.  But I still had fun.   Besides isn't that a little of the reason why we are here?

If you are always chasing the carrot on the end of the stick, you'll never enjoy the journey you took to get it.

You leap into conclusions like a hysterical teenager. I wasn't claiming that we were retards back then. I was pointing out that the ranking pool of players was much smaller. Because the PvP gear got buffed later in the life of the game, it wasn't something that people grinded for from the outset. Not to mention that not even all raiders bothered to do so because the advantage was so small.

Hence why @Jcus memory of how PvP was on his realm 11 years ago is completely meaningless.

Premades don't win because of Paladins....they have voice comm and strategy. Horde strat = afk for 1 badge. Get your guild to run a premade

Every fucking server in the history had threads like this. Shitters crying on forums cause they get fucked in the ass and want GMs to give them a pat on a head. Git gud or gtfo and play hearthstone.

That doesn't seem right. His response was pretty level headed and he was stating his observations. nothing hysterical or juvenile about that.
