petroix 4 Report post Posted May 18, 2017 Hey guys, Can you help me explain what weapons should a Rogue use and why? People say sth about main/off hand and weapon speed that is better but I always look at weapon dps and just pick the highest. Also I wonder if I should go with combat swords build (there is no way to use ambush/bs right? or dagger for "one shot" killing so I understand crit and ambush/bs. Can you link any? And ofc I have no idea what weapons should I look for to use in each build and in what slot should I put them. I really want to learn this class but it's the most complicated class in wow for me lol. I'll be very grateful for info thanks.
csant 3 Report post Posted May 18, 2017 For leveling up just pick whatever has the highest dps you can get ahold of. Once you hit 60 I would probably stick to swords or dagger (if you can get a felstriker) combat for raiding. Slow MH / Fast OH is usually want you want.

People say sth about main/off hand and weapon speed that is better but I always look at weapon dps and just pick the highest. The reason that a slow main hand is often advised is because our specials are based on weapon damage (such as weapon damage +x or weapon damage x percentage), and since slower weapons generally have higher damage than do faster weapons our specials will hit harder with them. This isn't necessarily the case though and a faster weapon could have a higher damage than a slower weapon, so check the damage on the weapon if you want to put it in the main hand. The exception to this is Hemorrhage, whose multiplier is the speed of the weapon rather than the normalised value, so speed of the weapon plays a larger role in the amount of damage that a particular weapon can do with that spell. DPS is most important for the off-hand since it's auto-attack only. Faster weapons are often advised for off-hand since they can often have a higher dps than slower weapons, but this isn't necessarily the case. It could also be argued that a faster weapon in the off-hand has the added benefit of allowing poisons to be applied quicker and more often.
petroix 4 Report post Posted May 20, 2017 Ok so mainhand (high dmg for abilities) offhand (high dps and speed for auto attack) But now tell me one thing, why should I play with maces, swords etc? I can't use backstab and ambush two abilities doing high dmg. We're talking about leveling ofc. Now for e.g I have 10lvl Rogue and I don't see much difference between weapons so I prefer to stick with daggers cuz I can use backstab at least. With sword I can just only spam sinister strike so it's not a good option imo. What u think?

MH can be mace or sword and you spam Sinister strike 24//7 By asking this you dont know how to use backstab frontally on mobs so to land any of your backstabs you gouge or stun and walk behind . That is incorrect and not how to use backstab.
