problazer 2 Report post Posted May 29, 2017 With the new AQ enchants becoming available has anyone done that math on this? Im currently Impale spec and wondering how 15 agi stacks up against a raw 2% threat increase. To mess around I put 2% threat on my T2 gloves just now. I replaced +3 def and now im at 339 for my "def cap" set. Debating if I should do 15 agi or another 2% threat for my T1 gloves that I use when im aiming for hit cap.
Undertanker 88 Report post Posted May 30, 2017 Easiest way to answer this is look at your KTM. How often are your melee DPS at 108% of your threat, and how often are ranged dps sitting at 128% of your threat. Most likely the answer is never or super rare. - ie: not enough to justify having 2% threat enchant over .75% dodge and crit unbuffed. On average (non world buffed 20% crit base) with an impale spec 1 crit gives: 8.4 more damage per HS (using Thunderfury) 2.1 more damage per revenge 12.6 more damage per shield slam. Naturally 2% threat far exceeds these increased damage values as the base threat doesn't change. However again, I'll revert back to how often are your DPS sitting 2% behind you? That is too slam of a threat cussion for anybody to be still dpsing at and would have stopped (should have) before getting to you on KTM. But if you MUST: I'd say 2% threat on T1 gloves, 15 agil T2 gloves, put 15 agil on gloves from AQ, though I'd personally go 15 agil across the board.
Imbaslap 14 Report post Posted May 30, 2017 personally i'd recommend 15 agi. 15 Agi modifies more than just "threat" it also affects rage generation amongst other things.. 2% threat means nothing in a mitigation fight where you're hungry for rage to expend. without it, you're threat is meaningless. 2% for "vael" could be argued with unlimited rage expenditure mix it up and try both. but i'd argue 15agi for mitigation gear, 2% threat for TPS gear. 2% would gradually increase your threat output per ability than 15 agi would. (2% threat also modifies sunder armor threat where 15 agi does not) Agi grants dodge for mitigation etc. you can see where i am going with this. also keep in mind that not everyone will have world buffs (most guilds cant even keep world buffs for the entirety of AQ40) also consider future content and bosses (if you havent even touched c'thun, those giant claws will give you a nice taste). later bosses would require more mitigation vs TPS. on patchwerk as a hateful tank, threat is meaningless and mitigation is everything.
Haestingas 30 Report post Posted May 30, 2017 show me a dps that sits at 108% threat and I'll show you an idiot. Hordeside the threat to gloves is a big deal, plenty of threat capped fury on many fights, as well as warlocks.

Pretty much this for Alliance. Horde you almost always will use 2% threat though.
