You are not prepared

Recommended Posts

First of all, I'd like to thank the team of developers and GMs for providing us this amazing, blizzlike Vanilla experience.  What you guys have overcome over the past 7 months is massively impressive, and I personally appreciate all the hard work you put into operating this server....

That being said....

I don't think it's any mystery that the server population has been on a slow and steady decline since even before AQ40 launched.  I've seen guilds die, then merge, then die again...all because people just keep disappearing.

But where are they going?

Warmane's "Outland" server is where.  It's still beyond me that so many people could be attracted to P2W servers, not to mention accelerated leveling.  The fact I can level a toon from 1 and be raiding Karazhan within a couple of weeks is absurd.  I know the vast majority of the private server community prefer the Authentic experience as it was back in the olden days, so why are people still flocking there by the troves right now?

I have no doubt in my mind that if you guys released a BC server, it would be a more refined, and less watered down version of the wildly popular realm over on Warmane right now...So why not?  Why not AT LEAST announce that there are plans, or even just the desire to create a Burning Crusade server?  Unless your guys plans end at Naxxramas.  If they do, so be it.   But I can almost GUARANTEE if you had plans beyond Naxxramas, the community would return.

The long and short of it is, OG nostalrius players want to continue their legacy on their toons they created over 2 years ago now.  It's been a long strange trip through Vanilla, and we'd hate to see Naxx be the end of it.  All of the time and effort invested into these characters.  I know I speak for many others when I say I want to see my main running through the dark portal.  My main that I created in April of 2015.  I have over 100 game played days logged on my toon, and I know many many others who have their time invested here, but have recently decided to call it quits....

...If you build it, they will come!  ;-)

To elaborate on this point a bit further....

You have to understand that on the flip side of the coin, if you do NOT have plans beyond Naxxramas, people would raid until they killed Kel'Thuzad and then literally quit this game and server forever.  What would be the point in sticking around and gearing up your character to end game BiS if there were a big fat "dead end" sign right behind Kel'Thuzad?

^what he said.

many people are already just raidlogging like me. i was leveling an alt on anathema but seeing the declining population made me that demotivated that i stopped since there is no real future for anathema (because naxx is coming "soon" and because of the declining pop, guilds are disbanding, no offspring, people are just qutting).

the announcement of a BC server with the possibility to transfer your character on there would bring back a purpose, a goal for the players, they then know that Naxx is not the final destination and that theres still a purpose to level and to play on a "regular" base.

something needs to be done ASAP for the long term strategy

I started raidlogging once i had 2 characters in pre-raid gear and nothing else to do. It reminded me of how I made so many characters back in the day across multiple servers, yet still felt like I had a "Main" and "Main Alt" all through Vanilla and into TBC. Then the Summer arrived and work takes me away from video games for months-on-end. Many people also are not too keen to sit inside sweating on a computer during the summer months and prefer spending their idleness outdoors. I enjoy being idle in the colder months and be outside and active in the warmer ones.

it's gonna take atleast half a year before people kill Kel. There is plenty of time. Announcing TBC now would have people stop playing until TBC is there

I highly doubt that. Only with massive misfortune on some key-items.

Definitly not. Yes Naxx was overtuned, yes naxx was hella difficult, but after 10 years people know the tactics, the amount of preperation they have to do which they did not know back then when it was released on retail. People overall are way more organised nowadays, no way it will take half a year, 1 month probably.

Why should they stop playing? That does not make sense at all. If you know the server is gonna be continued with another addon you have plenty of motivation to still pimp up your character and live through the content. You dont have that kind of motivation if you know the game is gonna be finished after the next relase when that instance which is gonna be released will be for the hardcore guys anyways.

Well ofc it cant be killed if Naxx isnt released yet, obviously. Thats why I was implying the release of Naxx from which on Kel will be down in a month easily.

I see no motivation in having an option to copy my char into TBC server. Naxx gear sure lasts you up to kara and you proly clear it first few times using mostly t3 but beyond that its useless so it gives you very minor edge compared to amount of effort you have to put to get t3 in vanilla. Not to mention that having option to "go away" to tbc with your char would further the process of emptying the server after naxx. What I see as a good way to keep naxx cleared server alive is having group of active gms organizing live events maybe even working on implementing arena system into vanilla etc.

Not to mention many people just despise TBC because its lack of world pvp (with tiny exceptions) and gameplay that ultimately prooved to turn into raidlogging very fast.

Anyway its beside the point because right now server didn't even got to naxx (Anathema) and it lost like 80% of its player base due to various factors, some could be undone with proper decision making but i think its a lost case. It reignited for short time with AQ release but it just wasnt enough... and war effort was just bloody shameful when it comes to judging decision making potential.

So let's make a bet. I tell you he will die within the first reset after Naxx is released. Maybe not in the first night, but in the first reset.
