Does anyone actually monitor the world chat?

Recommended Posts

I've been seeing many players promoting gold selling sites and the like in world chat over the past few days, spamming the chat, and they just keep going and don't get banned. I've reported a bunch through tickets, but now I have a ticket that's been open for like 12 hours with a bunch of names of spammers.  One GM even said he didn't know the chat was being spammed.

For real, how difficult is it to insta-ban people using colored text? Sounds incredibly easy to do.

The Developers have more important things to work on.

We are still working on something bigger however.

GM's do monitor the Chat while GMing but it has low priority while we are online.

I get that, answering tickets and such, but I see some truly vulgar stuff being posted in world chat every so often and it never gets deleted and the person would still be chatting away no bother.

Screenshot it, submit a ticket.  You're never going to get full-time monitoring of chat channels on a private server, nor should it even be expected.

Besides, even if they did do it, they'd just be accused of being Nazi mods.  ERMAGERD CANT EVEN CHAT IN WORLD WITH BEING MODDED REEEEEE.  I'd rather they just let things go.  Gold spamming is the one outlier to that.

Spamthrottle is one hell of an addon. ^_^ I recommend if you want to stop seeing all those gold spams until something can actually be done.

Kind of a Necro but yeah... Spam Throttle is great and all but the servers are in dire need of more policing. I turned spam throttle off just to see how bad it has been and I got a PM within 20 seconds of logging on, and saw the same player (Bailah horde side) spamming colored chat ads in World chat the entire time I was on. I also reported somebody for dual boxing and never got a response after 2 days of having the ticket in so I hadn't even posted another ticket about this seller. I think policing gold farmers/sellers should be way more of a priority. I really hope you guys aren't overlooking this because it is really bad.

It gets worse every day on Elysium. WC is full of gold spammers, racists and pedophiles. I really do wish a GM would make time to go online for an hour, just an hour, and go nuts with the ban hammer.

I haven't gotten a pm or mail from gold sellers in weeks.  I also can't remember the last time I saw a gold seller advertising in chat, it's been awhile.  I have seen alot of people typing in orange text to change item names but I don't know if that's bannable.

Do you have SpamThrottle? If so then that might be why.

If you see spam or something vulgar in world chat, take a screenshot and submit a ticket. We monitor world chat when we can, but there are hundreds of tickets that are more of a priority. If you submit a ticket, it joins that priority.

Dear user, we try our best to eliminate chat infringers, but it's difficult to implement 24/7 support.
We try to constantly monitor the chat of all realms, but it's not always possible to do this.
If you see an intruder, then report it to the in-game ticket.
