legaldirectmoney 0 Report post Posted October 1, 2017 Hello, I'am new player and I'am very happy to return to good, old times where WoW was great. I'am also ready to support project with money, but I have question - What are chances that it could be closed by Blizz lawyers? Does they allready tried to do it?

ScottK1994 0 Report post Posted October 1, 2017 (edited) Not with current laws and I doubt there is any rush to create those kind of laws in east Europe. They have bigger problems than IP. It basically depends on server location. It would be closed already if it was in the US. Even somewhere like France or the UK it would also be closed. Same goes for Australia and even Mexico I think. Nelythia 44 Report post Posted October 1, 2017 It is hosted in France... Same as Nostalrius, and Nostalrius didn't get closed by anyone but themself. They decided to shut down and follow the C&D. There was no direct involvement of blizzard.
timk 0 Report post Posted October 2, 2017 (edited) If the people at Blizzard had any brains, they'd have their own Vanilla servers up and running, charging people for separate accounts, and items and gold from other accounts cannot transfer to their Vanilla accounts. I wonder why they refuse to do this. What about hosting the servers on an Indian reservation in America, aren't they exempt? Drain 19 Report post Posted October 3, 2017 Since it's not hosted in a DMCA country (MURICA), they'd have to take someone to court to have it shutdown. This is far more trouble than it's worth. Assuming they did come after it, the staff would just move it to another ISP or country. Then Blizzard would have to spend another fortune going after it again. If you want to learn how something can stay up despite every attempt to shut it down, just read up on the history of the piratebay.
