[Addon] Questie ~ A Vanilla Quest Helper

Recommended Posts

Where are we, on the option of being able to track everything, Aero?  :)

Well I just finished fixing a bug that affects that, give /questie showquests a try when v3.4 comes out and it should work like it did before. It doesn't sort by nearest but it should show all your current quests regardless of tracking status

That's a step of the way.  ^^

Plans to make it Sort By Nearest?

It won't make it into v3.4 since I want to get that out today, but it should be in the next version after that.

Forget to include the track_everything thingie?

I haven't forgotten, I just didn't have enough time to include it in that release. I've got a lot of stuff going on IRL right now (holiday related) that are taking up my time. Mainly just had to get out those bug fixes before launch.

Expect to see that very soon though, ill have more time after the 17th.

No rush, Sir.

Appreciate every little bit of data, you throw into Questie. :-)

Was just checking to see, if now was the time for me to update, my old 2.63 beta version. ;-)

Keep on rocking, Aero.

Im curious. It tells me on the page to beware since I use tinytip as their may be a bug, but below it says it fixed the tiny tip bug? Was there more than one tiny tip bug?

I fixed a bug with tinytip, but 1 user has reported that it made things even worse. This doesn't happen with my own copy of tinytip so I'm waiting for him to send me his copy. You can give it a try, but if things start glitching that's why. It's being worked on right now

v3.4 also makes EnhToolTip/Enchantrix keep a persistent tooltip on screen after hovering over an item.

Thanks for the heads up ill look into that.

did you do /questie showquests ? by default questie only shows quests you manually track, this was changed some time ago.

I'm thinking of changing the default back to "always show quests" though. Since that is how it always worked in the past.

FYI, if anyone gets strange occurences while inspecting items on NPC vendors, and the windows stick to your tooltip when they shouldn't, rollback your version to 3.0.

Description: When opening a vendors list of items to mouseover, the "currently equipped" item panel would hang/remain open after closing the vendor. The panel would also attach itself to other frames and remain there until I reloaded. This issue happened with versions 3.3, 3.2, and 3.1. v3.0 worked fine.

Are you using pfUI?

Thanks for the report! Ill take a look into it shortly. I'm thinking of just rewriting the tooltip code since it has so many issues.

Can you post your addon list? (screenshot of addons folder is fine)

I've temporarily removed the v3.4 download link due to a fairly significant bug. For now use 3.3, a fix is in the works.

Hey Aero.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

EDIT: I managed to fix this issue by deleting all Questie entries from my Saved Variables folder, booting WoW back up and prompting the Questie Tracker and Arrow to display with their corresponding commands. Perhaps, the Saved Variables for Questie from Rebirth where preventing Questie from working correctly on a different server. Very happy  :D I'll keep my post as it was just in case any one else experiences the same thing and is looking for help.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I am not seeing the Questie Quest Tracker or Arrow with v3.3 when logged in to the newly released Nostalrius PvP Server. Prior to this release, I was setting up my UI on Rebirth and I had Questie v3.1. Questie v3.1 was working fine on Rebirth but when I logged in to Nostalrius PvP Server for the first time today, I can not for the life of me get the quest tracker or arrow to show up.

The Questie button is available to click on my map and I can prompt the Questie options to display in chat by typing /questie, etc. Both of which would indicate to me that the addon is successfully installed but I simply can not bring up the tracker or arrow.

Why would it work on Rebirth and not Nostalrius PvP? I have seen other players on Nostalrius PvP, for example, Alexensual with his Questie working..? I thought perhaps it was my pfUI so I disabled that to return to the stock Blizz UI but that did not get the Questie Tracker or Arrow to display, either.

I can further confirm that hopping back on the Rebirth server, both the Questie Tracker and Questie Arrow display correctly when tracking quests...

Perhaps players that have their Questie addon working are on a particular version - an older one than v3.1 or 3.3..?

I am at a loss, bud and I am seriously hoping you can shine some light on what might be causing this and how to fix it.

If it is any help, below is a list of my currently installed addons.

  • LazyPig v4.55
  • Atlas
  • AtlasLoot Enhanced
  • BananaBar Raid Symbols
  • Big Wigs - Common Auras
  • Big Wigs Healbot Assist
  • Big Wigs Razuvious Assistant
  • Big Wigs Thaddius Arrows
  • Big Wigs
  • CallToArms
  • Cartographer
  • Decursive 1.9.8.3
  • DPSMate
  • EquipCompare
  • Improved Error Frame
  • Improved Ignore
  • KLHThreatMeter
  • LevelRange
  • MobInfo-2
  • MobInfo-2 Browser
  • oCB3
  • OmniCC
  • Sell Value
  • SuperInspect
  • SuperInspect_UI
  • Telo's LootLink - Enhanced
  • pfUI
  • ShaguPlates
  • Questie v3.3
  • Healcomm
  • Clean Up
  • Classic Snowfall
  • Made graphical changes as per http://forum.nostalrius.org/viewtopic.php?f=32&t=1100

Finally, here is a picture of my current UI, taken with a character on the Rebirth server. You can see the Questie 3.1 Quest Tracker and Quest Arrow in the top right corner directly underneath the Map. On the Nostalrius PvP server, these UI elements are simply just not there even when I prompt them with their corresponding command, /questie arrow, etc...

I really hope that I have provided you with enough information so that you can investigate the matter and find a solution :)

Thanks, mate!

Do you need something like EQL3 or Shagudb?

edit: perhaps deleting your cache as well. Just ideas...I'm far from an expert but this might be something to try.

First off - thank you for your work on this addon.  You bring a ton to this community just keeping something like this going.

For the first time in a long time, I'm stumped with an addon.  When downloading this, extracting, and putting it in the proper folder, I can't see this as an addon.  It doesn't work in game, and doesn't even show up in the Addon list in WoW.

I've used Questie before (to great extent thank you!) on Nost.  Nothing like this happened previously.  For Elysium's Nost, I deleted all previous addons, the WTF folder, and started fresh.  This has happened since then.  Any thoughts on why this is missing?

Thank you again for all your work!
