I have experienced on Kronos wow that the GMs there dont take lightly on insults or wrong (according to them) names/guildnames etc. In other words, they act like established modern day politicians in western europe, crack down on politically incorrect people, Now, i am or will in no way spam hatred everywhere of course, and i fully understand the instabanning of gold sellers and other spammers. But it is by no means right to ban or mute people just for the reason they said something wrong. FULL, Lemme refrase that word, FULL freedom of speech is whats gonna make this server thrive once its released. And im not feeling some nice first impression vibes of said statement/question Rly its not hard, its even making it easier for GMs to operate, not having to focus on looking what people write and taking that into consideration on whether to take "legal" action or not. Keep in mind this is a private server and they can literally run it in any way they choose to and with any rules they want to enforce. It does not mean you can say whatever you want with no consequences. Furthermore, Elysium is a private company, so freedom of speech does not apply. They can legally censor whatever they want. Have you ever reported a safespotter before? I have. Have you ever reported a bot before? I have. They answer asap and they are professional about it. Your tickets about "Oh no, that guy offended me, my feelings are hurt" amount to nothing. Its about the principle here, we all know that this is a private platform and that the devs can do whatever they want. Why should it be bannable to be a dick? I cant find any objective reason why a dick should be expelled by anyone else but the community. You might trust yourself with the power to ban anything you deem toxic, but would you trust anyone else with it? If your answer is 'yes', you just fail to misunderstand how slippery that slope is. Yeah, maybe you would get rid of a lot of autism like slipry or that hunter/pally guy but the next day its like on feenix where you get permabanned for typing the word nostalrius in chat or stating that the server is фекал. You dont like someone? Dont invite them, dont buy their things, dont whisper to them, dont join their groups... play the game with people you like. Inb4 someone is toxic for advocating for a different position on something like 'the existence of holy resistance'. Edit: threats of violence/obvious slander usually arent protected by free speech. Seriously though, get your excrements together and disable that profanity filter (or is that on my side?). I doubt anyone in this world needs protection from a "bad word". The answer to your query is in the TOS: "When communicating with other users and staff, you may not: Communicate any unlawful, obscene, racist or any such language and/or imagery deemed inappropriate by Elysium staff."The key component of this is, "deemed". So it's open to interpretation, and for a reason. We don't want to just have a list of words you cannot say (except apparently in the forums : P), We want intent to be critical. We had some ability to use some adult language as an adult in the game and to an extent in the forums at Nost, but if one's intent was to just try out some naughty words and spam chat to get attention- expect full well to be censured. Usually that amounted to having your chat privileges revoked for X amount of time or to be banned from the forums...and I really don't recall many people be banned from forums out of the thousands and thousands.
