Meskatron 0 Report post Posted November 26, 2016 Hi Guys, Having started WoW in Cataclysm, I am looking forward to experiencing Vanilla WoW and the old world. Just wondering what sort of ping I can expect and if there were any plans for an oceanic server in future? Thanks,
Docholy 4 Report post Posted November 26, 2016 Good question, I'm west coast USA and I get 150 during peak (old nost server no idea how this new one will work out) and 100 ish during non peak.
Banezilla 2 Report post Posted November 26, 2016 I get about the same ping as Doc and I'm also on the USA West Coast. Try connecting to our server during the Stress test this Sunday and check your ping then.
Meskatron 0 Report post Posted November 26, 2016 Thanks for the replies. I was expecting something around 300. Should be fine as I'm just looking to enjoy exploring the old world. Probably won't be a serious raider.
nevomm 4 Report post Posted November 26, 2016 I'm playing in Australia, Perth and never get any issues, having said that the stress test usually finds most players very laggy so wait until live servers are up to make a proper judgement on it.
Undertanker 88 Report post Posted November 26, 2016 You are experiencing lag mostly because everybody is in the same zones. Spread out and go to a zone without a lot of people to get a better understanding of what to expect.
Abusive 1 Report post Posted November 26, 2016 I've played on other servers hosted in France/Germany and it's usually 350-450. I do live on the East Coast though, which makes it worse. My suggestion is... Get a tunnel like WTFast and play a ranged class.
nvnz 0 Report post Posted November 27, 2016 (edited) You'd probably get as low as ~290ms with a tunnel service. ~320ms without. I wouldn't expect an oceanic private server seeing as we have a small community. Hope to see you on launch day, if horde hmu for a oceanic guild invite. QueenEtna 0 Report post Posted November 27, 2016 I'm Australian, on old Nostalrius my ping was anywhere from 350 to 600. The lag wasn't so bad but it was annoying when spells wouldn't cast until like a second later.
Banezilla 2 Report post Posted November 28, 2016 (edited) My ping was stable every time I checked it during the 2nd stress test. I was in a less populated zone though. Edited November 28, 2016 by Banezilla
Shayss 43 Report post Posted November 28, 2016 (edited) My ping was stable every time I checked it during the 2nd stress test. I was in a less populated zone though. Same. Everytime we got into a new zone there was zero delay on casts but as the massed poured in the lag just went haywire. This is to be expected. It is also going to be like this in the first 3 zones at launch before people get spread out a bit. Edit: on a side note, isn't this how clustering was supposed to work? Is this clustering? Me confused! Edited November 28, 2016 by Shayss
