Shayss, why do you have to be so condescending? The OP has only just joined and was asking a question in a friendly way. Gah.

Hm?

I think you misread bro. I wasn't condescending. It also wasn't directed at the OP (even though it did answer his question)

Yes I know it wasn't directed to the OP but still you're being a dick & no need for it in what was very simply answered by Tholren in the first place.

Ah, I see you weren't in the first thread about this stuff.

If you think I shouldn't be a dick towards hostile dismissive as.sholes, then I am afraid we will just have to disagree about this.

Look at the third reply... on the first page...

@Hewhoshallnotbenamed Probably for the best, it's not worth getting banned over. Nothing is, really, as it defeats the purpose of playing.

I'll remove patches, but i'll miss my modern character models <'3

yep that's why it's called vanilla. Having 2014 character models surrounded by 2004 environment & armour textures would look a bit weird I think anyway.

I mainly prefer it for the animations, to be honest.

Oh didn't know they changed character animations as well. I played WoD very briefly, got kinda weirded out by the new models personally. I used to play a tauren and thought it looked quite odd.

Indeed they did, here's a link so you can see the differences. Melee has a really nice impact to it now, one of the few things I think Legion did absolutely right.

Edit: Forgot to say, the new animations came with Legion, not WoD, which is why you missed it.

That Fresh server is going to be a drama fest. lol

Truth.

I am pretty sure I am an oddity in the number of people going to the fresh server, since I am coming from Old Nost.

Give it a two months or so and most of the whiners will be gone from leveling "effort".

Fresh loses its appeal when you aren't the bleeding edge of the bell curve. I play vanilla to get to content I heard stories about in 07 that I never got to play. For that same reason, I'd love to get on a BC server to relive T4 and fight through T5 and T6 and Sunwell. I've completed 3 raids I never got to, time for the last 3 of vanilla.

Threads like these prove that we need these servers released NOW! You guys are far too bored without a game to play.

Huh, looks good. Those numbers though... 1 million damage? What happened to Blizzard trying to reduce all the numbers in the game?

Right, that system didn't really work, everything just scaled into really high numbers again. When I was trying Legion I ended up disabling any combat text, it made no difference.

Lol I remember when the first number crush thing came out, it made no difference. I also had to disable combat text and put everything in % to not get confused.

Blizzards first mistake was character scaling in the expansions. Every expansion makes the last version of the game utterly pointless to play.  I wish they scaled gear and levels appropriately, i.e. a level 70 to a level 60 is like a level 60 to a level 50. After working for rank 14 in Vanilla then becoming useless in TBC, then working for full vengeful gear in TBC then finding out WOTLK is coming out shortly afterwards making my TBC gear useless, I was done. Gotta admit TBC was pretty awesome though, maybe even better than Vanilla. I honestly couldn't complain about the cross realm BG's. Queue times were God awful on a closed realm. I just like how they refined most of the issues that were experienced in Vanilla, especially character balance and hybrid gear.

Yeah, there was something weird with replacing high level 60 epics with greens on day 1 of TBC. I appreciate that it instantly leveled the playing field which made dungeon groups a lot easier (no "must be 4/8 tier 3" nonsense), but it also felt like a lot of the work you put in at 60 wasn't worthwhile.
