Gear Upgrade addon like Pawn

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know of an addon like Pawn or Topfit for Vanilla WoW that calculates and finds appropriate upgrades for your spec/class, and then recommends a choice? I noticed that Vanilla WoW is getting a lot of addons made for it that weren't here several years ago, and I was hoping I could find something like this.

TBH, I think in vanilla is not much of a choice ^^

Also playstyles differ so much.

AP Rogue

Crit Rogue

Proc Rogue

Hit Rogue

etc.

Hard to tell what is considered "best"

Edit: Also it differs from server to server

On Kronos for example Ironfoe has a proc chance of 10% or so and is better than every naxx weapon currently^^

Ya, there isn't much of a choice...but I was hoping for a possible addon that might work. There are a lot of new addons out that weren't around even a couple of years ago like Cleanup to straighten the loot in your bag, questie, npcscan, or even this fantastic new AH replacement https://github.com/shirsig/aux-addon.

Even though the servers are a bit different, the basic calculations are all about the same.

Well, it was a longshot anyway. I guess I'm just really spoiled from retail and need to get off my butt and play the game like it was intended!

Found this http://forum.nostalrius.org/viewtopic.php?t=15009&p=95090 doing just a quick google search...

Thanks Wulf. I have looked at these and have theorycraft in my lineup, but was looking for something like Pawn. I'm not sure if you have used it, but it will display on mouseover if the gear is better than your equipped piece. It isn't fool proof, but it makes decision making much quicker when you are doing dungeons and can't decide to need or greed. You can input your own stat weights and help determine which ones are upgrades. Yes I am lazy!! :)

You've been playing retail WoW / been spoon fed for far too long my friend.

I also started playing games like pong on my tv set back in the 70s, but this is why addons were incorporated into WoW, they help simplify and add quality of life to the game :) I know of atleast 5 very useful addons from expansions that have been incorporated into 1.12.1, that were not available a couple years ago, and that is why I was hoping someone had written a new one comprable to Pawn. /shug.

Plus, if you are in the UI, Addons area of this site you must be here to be "spoonfed" as well.

I don't think such an addon exists for vanilla.

Thanks Skipadawoop, I believe you are correct! :) Doesn't hurt to look though, and with a couple days till server launch I haven't much else to do!

There's a difference in being able to customize the look of your UI and having an addon that converts stats into an upgrade percentage.

For example if the addon tells you that this +weapon skill item you just got is better than your current one by a few percentages, you won't know why exactly its an upgrade. You'll just wear it cuz "it says so" AKA being spoon fed.

However back to topic - I don't believe there's an addon for this in vanilla also it would be a ton of work to make considering all the different talent point combos there are for all classes which would change your characters stat weights.

You shouldn't be hypocritical. Your own interface folder is full of "spoonfed" addons that have nothing to do with the look of your UI. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B75aoVK8Zp_8b0w0SzBiSWItc2M/view

Mate, I already went over this in my previous comment.

Only "spoon feeding" addons that I use are what is required for me to use if I want to be in a proper raiding guild, such as bigwigs, KTM etc. But even those addons won't make me go "well I don't know what this means, I just do it" like pawn would do.

Anyways, I wont go more off topic.

edit: I guess I do have Questie. So you're kinda right, I was being sort of hypocritical, sorry. GL with finding your addon :^)

Now you Sir I could be in a guild with. You made me challenge myself and look even harder for what I was looking for (to no avail)...plus you seem to have honor. Good luck to you too. /Salute

You can try out these, not exactly what you want, but hey, it's something.

BonusScanner

CasterStats

CompareStats

EquipCompare

TheoryCraft

and stuff like SW_Stats, Recap or DPSMate obviously.

Thank you eukal, I appreciate the positive help. I have looked at a couple of these and will investigate the others! Every little bit helps...I'm not that youthful anymore. /salute!

It looks like you have played Shaman quite a bit. Have you had problems getting into raids? I am thinking of starting one this weekend, but have no real vanilla experience with them. The internet has mostly negative feedback other than restoration at 60. My other choice is Warrior because I didn't play that much either, but I heard this was harder to level. Anyway, ty again.

Warrior are really hard to lvl for a first toon. You need a lot of money to keep you stuff upgrade

Yeah, it's really difficult to go raid on sham enh. You need to find a familly guild, and not the one who want to clean BWL in two hours....It's the most difficult part ahahaha

Ya, I think I'm going to go with a Shaman and find a guild that is more into enjoying the time playing together, rather than busting out gear. I like the idea of playing a warrior, but I also like healing myself. lol TY Hirag.

It can be pretty hard to find a guild, but I was lucky, found one after a few days of looking. And I already found one for the upcoming launch.

Just start to make contact to the guilds, sooner or later you will find one.

If you decide to go enhancement take a look at my guide:
