Easy question for everyone.  The patch 1.12 download emulator allows you to printscreen to create screenshots.  Unfortunately these screenshots come out in an unreadable format.  When I try to open them with the default photo programs in windows 7 and 10, they end up being a bunch of jibberish and no actual screen shot.

Is there an easy way to convert these screenshots into actual pictures, so that I can document my journey to 60?

/console screenshotFormat jpg

Just type that into the chat box in game and it will switch all future screenshots to jpg.

You can also up the picture quality of screenshots - /console screenshotQuality 10

Or change 10 to anything between 1-10, default quality is 3. It basically just reduces the compression.

this is not really an unreadable format.. it's just a format that is not really that common anymore.

You can snag this free program open them and then save them out in a more user friendly format. (youngsters these days! hehe kidding)

This is like a poor man's photoshop.

The "/console screenshotFormat jpg" command is not working for me, maybe my client is just too old. I just used VLC player to open those .tga screenshots in the past. xd

^ you can't access the console commands without the chat window... which you need to be playing a character for. Since the servers are not up yet youll have to wait for them to go live. Unless you're playing on a different private server... in which case I dunno what to say. But that command is the correct one I believe. It worked on Nostalrius.

I don't think that console command is in vanilla. From what I have found it only exists in v2.1 and up...

oh really? I could have sworn I used it on Nostalrius. Maybe I'm confusing it with retail but I haven't played retail in years.

I was definitely using console command s on nost and I'm sure I changed my screenshot quality using that command.

I'd love for you to be right. I guess we'll be able to test it on Saturday!  (fingers crossed)

I did try it on Kronos II just now and it didn't do anything for me.

Maybe you were doing it before but the console command was different?

Bad quality? All my screenshots look lovely.

And who said anything about recording? I believe we're in a screenshot thread.

I'd completely forgot Fraps takes screenshots. I would assume Fraps is probably a lot better than the WoW one as it compresses the image quite significantly, even at the highest quality.
