Hidden 30% XP nerf to all the quests in every zone??

Hello.

I was leveling earlier on today and I noticed that each of the quests took a rough 30% nerf to its experience gained. I believe that this "hotfix" or "nerf" (whichever you want to call it) was applied some time this week. There was no difference in experience gained from questing last week though, as far as I noticed.

As an example to my statement, I compared "The Key to Scholomance" quest before and after this nerf. The last quest in the chain gave 14000 XP, I clearly remember it. But last night it only gave me 9950 XP. The same reduced XP also applies to each and every quest in Winterspring, Silithus, both Plaguelands etc.

Was this change intended, or is this a bug?

Were the quests you completed green or gray  in your quest log? Lower level quests grant less xp and reputation, I believe.

Thank you for your reply! Yeah, I knew that already. I'm pretty sure everyone knows about gray and green quests diminishing XP.

Almost all the quests I've completed were yellow or orange, very few of them was green. Therefore, I should receive the optimal amount of experience for them.

However, each of the quests gave 30% less than they're supposed to. As explained above. You can test and see for yourself.

Anecdotal evidence isn't great, I'm more surprised that you remembered the exact amount of xp a certain high end quest gave you at the same level. Try it out on a new character, if you end up below level 5 in the starter zones you might be onto something.

This is not anecdotal evidence, this has been confirmed by multiple people. I'm not sure why there are not more people pointing this out. I am getting 4k-5k experience for completing quests level 50-60. I haven't seen anything about this being an intentional change. Fix please!

I noticed this as well. The Alterac Valley PVP quest turn-ins which on Dec 26th gave my level 51 friend 25k experience each, on December 30th gave me, another level 51, 9k experience. Other quests which gave 7-8k experience, are now giving 4.8-5k experience.

Just did the math on the quest "The Flawless Flame", and I can confirm an exp cut. Quest was yellow, and awarded 43.4% less xp than it is supposed to. Only awarded 4400, where it should award 7780.

Anecdotal evidence is evidence based on a personal account, as opposed to evidence derived from research. My conclusion was the result of research. It is hard to call evidence 'anecdotal' when a quest on Monday gave 25k experience, and the same quest done on Friday gave 9k experience.

how does one gain traction on a subject like this? when i submitted a ticket in game, i was referred to this website

 

do the admins check these posts frequently? does anyone have any sort of experience with regards to the lag time a subject like this would see?

Did you post this to the bugtracker? That's how things like this are supposed to be tracked and discussed. 

Also, You're going to need to provide screenshotted evidence of the difference to help out the Dev's and what you're seeing.

Maybe im just retarded but i dont see where to post a new bug on the bug tracker... All i see is a search and a list of current topics.

I do have SS's of the diminished EXP I received, but I cant very well go back and acquire SS's of hand-ins pre-nerf as I wasnt necessarily recording them at that point lol.

The devs should be able to tell us pretty black and white whether there was a change made, accidentally or not.

25k for AV quests last week vs. 9500 now is a substantial difference. Seems fairly cut and dry to me, we just need the right person to look into it.

Go back to the main page and login via the control panel option, then go to the bugtracker and the option to submit a new bug will appear, and fill out all of the fields. 

Regardless if it is 'obvious' or not, you should still provide that info. If it is like you said that it affects everything, you can just do another quest and present evidence that XP is nerfed.

I've always felt like there seems to be a shortage of quest xp to level. It hasn't seemed any worse than usual the last week to me.

So this would explain why I was always under level even after clearing every quest in zones. I even spent a few hours grinding mobs since I was missing a certain level to progress to the next zone.

Eventhough I was expecting to have to grind mobs and the end of a zone I really wasnt expecting that I fall behind so much while doing quests.

I have also noticed this but I am sorry, I am to azy to do any testing.

But it has felt strange that I always fall behind on my quests and guide.
