Arator 0 Report post Posted January 1, 2017 Hello, the recent implemented 1 minute lasting mute when you're writing multiple messages really quick is annoying as hell. If you're typing quickly and using multiple rows you get muted, if you're using macros to assign people you're getting muted and when you're using addons like Advanced Trade Skill Window to link required mats for items you get muted too. I feel like I receive more mutes than gold spammer whispers. I know this is intended to slow down the gold spammers, but if it's working like this it's nothing but annoying for players. In my opinion even more annoying than gold spammers themselves. Can you please undo this awful thing or at least increase the amount of messages one person can send before getting muted? It feels really awful having to wait whenever you wanna chat with your guild mates, friends or party members.
Pottu 290 Report post Posted January 3, 2017 You can configure your addons to not use multi-line features, instead packing the necessary text on as few lines as possible. I know it's not perfect but it's a workaround.
void_echo 10 Report post Posted January 3, 2017 I have just been muted in a BG, while calling out incoming attackers. This is not an "imperfect workaround", this is absolutely unacceptable. You refuse to implement "imperfect workarounds" such as banning VPNs, or banning non-latin characters from BGs, so who exactly is the priority here and why?

Pottu 290 Report post Posted January 3, 2017 You don't need to use a multi-line message or spam it multiple times to inform your fellow players of attackers. One message is more than enough.
void_echo 10 Report post Posted January 4, 2017 (edited) Really, even when 80% of the BG doesn't speak English and is AFK as part of an account selling operation? Have you actually entered a BG in the last 2-3 months of Nost before it was taken down, or in the last 2 weeks? In before "report everyone one by one through GM tickets, we'll totally do something"... And not having to use a "multi-line message", do you have any idea how reporting inc/flag/etc. in BGs works and how quickly you have to update node status? Papertank 0 Report post Posted January 4, 2017 Ive been getting more gold selling spam since they implemented this mute then before the mute was enabled. and its annoying when you are trying to give assignments in a raid when you post them and get muted for 1 minute. also, i got chat banned for 2 hours when trying to form my weekly ony/ MC pug for mentioning to a guildie about the 100g prizes i offer for top performers yet the entire time still getting spammed about 5 or 6 times a minute. Nice try tho.
Ravni 2 Report post Posted January 4, 2017 You've created a system with a >99% false positive rate, which does nothing to actually deter gold sellers. You might want to rethink that.
Lorilay 12 Report post Posted January 4, 2017 Please exempt private channels, guild, raid, battleground, and party chat from this spam filter. It's causing more problems than it's solving.
bunbuns 5 Report post Posted January 4, 2017 Seriously, this system is incredibly flawed and probably does absolutely nothing to curb gold spam messages. All they need to do is set the timer of their messages in way that does not activate the muting system. The mutes are likely doing little more than annoying people who are just chatting, posting healing assignments, posting damage meters etc. In short, the current system is more of an impediment to people who are doing nothing wrong than the gold sellers you are trying to stop, who can easily circumvent it. Being constantly muted for nothing is FAR more annoying than receiving whispers from gold sellers.

This is all that is truly needed, since goldspammers have no presence over those mediums in normal circumstances.

One message is more than enough. 1 line is absolutely not enough. Generally people do not pay attention to the chat box in the middle of a BG so it is, effectively, essential to spam the box 2,3 or 4 times, often in caps, for players eyes to take notice of it. On a side note, it is not for you to decide if "one message is more than enough". It may be enough for you to notice but that does not mean that this is applicable to everyone, particularly the newer players to vanilla or WoW in general. Please take note of solutions being offered to you by an obviously unhappy player-base. If you want to keep the server "blizz like" this shouldn't be here in the first place. However, I understand something must be done, but you are now negatively effecting QoL for a lot of people.
Pottu 290 Report post Posted January 7, 2017 Frankly, I am not here to argue with you. If you think you can coordinate pugs by spamming the BG chat, I admire your optimism. In any case, I offered you a temporary solution to use.
