Instance scripting is hilarious

Some of the damage of mobs is so insane. Like the water elementals with aoe frost bolt for 70 % of your lifeand turtles from the torches in BFD the elemental lightning spamming cultists. The fear spamming boss in stockades doing intimidating shout over and over. It actually makes level dungeons kind of hard. They're buggy as shit but it actually makes it kind of hard and fun. What mobs have you guys run into that are clearly broken but you enjoyed?

They definitely have a mega shit ton of mobs to fix, but I kind of want them to leave some of them not blizz like and more difficult for fun to be honest.

Disciple of naralex event in WC is bugged for sure. I feel like the 2nd and the 3d wave were combined and came right after the first 3 elite snakes.

And after we died to this big wave, monsters didn't kill Disciple of Naralex like they were supposed to (i clearly remember that from retail), they despawned instead and we were able to do the boss, which spawned regardless of wipe.

For some people this may be not a big deal but for me it's pretty frustrating actually...

 

+ the quest for "99 Year old *something bottle*" which drops from a goblin quest mob. He is supposed to have 2 or 3 different spawn places (from retail vanilla) but seems to have only 1 where groups of players camp him...

 

Did the old Nostalrius (year ago) have all of these bugs?

Yeah i had that happen when i was leveling a hunter on nost pvp a little before elysium came out we wiped and he didnt die and i was just like uhhh okay cool!

You could submit report on bug tracker and provide with reliable source if you really think something is bugged. It would take you 5-10 mins to do it.

Its kind of hard to find videos of the exact things that are bugged probably why so many of them are still bugged if it was easy to fix their wouldn't be so many things not right. Its not like items where you can just use way back on alla.

Like I said if it was that easy to give proof they'd already be getting fixed / bug tracked. But you really have to find like an old video showing the pulls and the damage they do etc.

Frostbolt Volley really hurt back then, but the four initial turtles are quite over tunned, yes.

Another sad bug is the Tubers quest in RFK. Instead of summoning the mole and ordering him to smell tubers, Nost made it a simply a drop from dungeon mobs :-(

Is this really that Nostalrius everyone was talking about back in April after shutdown?

Im not too fond of assuming but maybe most Nost players who didn't play a well scriped server nor retail think this is default vanilla. Therefore they don't see a problem.

While Kronos is an example of awesome scripting (much more vanilla fidelity specialty with such complex quests), it has some nasty bugs and awkward dev communication. This is what probably drove people away from there. A pitty. Would be ideal to have Nost networking code & population combined with Kronos script quality. But these communities hate each other apparently.

it was the same on nost aswell.

Kronos database is alot better. like it or not, its a fact. I know how much work was done to get it this far so don't expect nosts db to improve any time soon. its not much of an issue anyways so I advice you to simply deal with it.

Yeah i remember stockades mobs bugging out when you zone out with them  going under the stairs and never resetting, but I'm not sure if thats a stock mangos bug or just a nost bug. I haven't really played on any other private servers so I have 0 idea whats usually broken from just mangos default and whats server specific.

As long as the encounters are beatable I do really enjoy some of the bugs although some of it is kind of silly.

What we as players can do is, be diligent in reporting the bugs (quests and mobs that are lacking scripts are after all bugs) and try to provide the devs with as much information as possible so that they can fix these things.

With that said, some people say that you should lead by example and not just tell others what to do. Right now it seems the bug tracker is down but once it's back up I will try and report some of the bugs here that I've been able to confirm as well.

Uldaman is pretty weird right now. There is a part where 3 team members need to use the altar in the middle of a round room. One by one, hard hitting golems come to life. After killing all 4, the door opens. On the PVE server, this is not needed. 1 of the golems is already alive, and the door is already open. We wiped on Archaedas and, when we came back, the door was closed but 2 golems were alive. We killed the 2 golems and the door opened again. We never activated the altar, and we never needed to kill that last golem.

It's not game breaking. It's just weird. All of the quests still work, so that's good.

Yeah I've seen some ghetto fixes like quest items dropping from random mobs that shouldn't drop them instead of say a box that its supposed to be in. Which is obviously preferably to not being able to be completed just a little confusing sometimes.

seriously? why are we opening new servers and not fixing the server that made this project what it is...

 

oh and Baron Geddon also spams his aoe every 10 seconds over there instead of every 30.

we were fucking spoiled with Kronos scripting quality all these months its just a damn shame they went with 1.12 loot and not progressive (although progressive loot is very prone to mistakes/bugs as we saw on Nost) so I totally understand why kronos decided to just ship 1.12 itemization. 

 

meh not like BWL and MC are hard anyway, AQ40 was a challenge though

A server of this size needs things like this, so Elysium in my honest opinion - Opening new servers and creating a hype train instead of improving the core and web utilities over the course of 6 months would have been way better then rush releasing this.

but lets not get to far away from the OP,  the hatchers doing shadowflame is a MASSIVE issue, but what about Geddon spamming his AOE every 10 sec?  The sheep class calls are still messed up on Nefarian beyond belief, and Arcane Missles is currently the most broken spell in the game

to put it in perspective, if your at max range and i get a successful channel of missiles on you, you can run anywhere you like (even into a building and behind a wall and my missiles are still gonna hit you in full force for full duration channel.  This has been a basically game breaking PvP bug since the initial release of Nostalrius begins almost 2 years ago.

Thats actually how arcane missles worked in vanilla if you started the channel before someone went los it continued your cast

that other shit real broke though

channeling spells never broke because of LoS if you got to cast it first(it's always been this way on retail)... but running out of range should break it
