PvP gear, cont.

Recommended Posts

If you have any evidence of players still wearing the higher level PVP equipment, please raise an in-game ticket with a screenshot for our GMs to investigate.

This implies that you've removed the gear from most players but a handful flew under the radar for whatever reason.

That's not the case at all.

Out of curiosity, I decided to inspect the first 10 players of R7+ that I saw in Orgrimmar. Most of them still had level 60 PvP gear. Confused by this, I went around the city a bit more and inspected everyone I could find of a sufficiently high rank to have pieces of the set, and most of them still had level 60 pieces. It sort of seems like those without it are simply the ones who hit R7+ after it was removed from the shops.

It kinda looks like you did little to nothing about it.

Are you placing on us the entire burden of finding out who has level 60 gear, and reporting it to you so you can remove it player by player? Are you expecting the players to do this and actually catch everyone who has the items? That's completely unrealistic and ridiculous. If that's your approach, you might as well just put it back in the shop. At least that'll give everyone equal footing.

Is there some problem that prevents you from simply removing the items through the database? Can't you just disable them? Give them no stats or something, if you can't delete them? This gear is absolutely gamebreaking now that players reaching those ranks after the items were removed from the shop can no longer get them, giving those who have them a massive advantage. For some classes, the ability to wear two pieces of each set makes the gear rival T2 in stats.

Why have you not done what you promised to do over a week ago, and why are you now placing the burden of fixing it on the players?

You do know you'll have to delete your wdb folder or the items will forever be displayed with the old stats.

It's different items

...No, it implies that private servers are buggy and not always perfect and they just want players to keep an eye out to make sure it all got removed.

What is even more unrealistic and ridiculous is expecting a small group of GMs that are already busy with countless other things, to go around inspecting players for hours at a time.

Player have to report hackers. Players have to report bots. I don't see why it's "unrealistic and ridiculous" for us to report one more thing.

"inspecting players for hours at a time" lmao

how about just delete the level 60 pvp gear from the database? Check who was rank 7+ 2-3 weeks ago?

Pretty much everyone I know that was R8+ before the revert still has the same stats.

You don't see thirty hackers and botters on a brief walk around the faction capital. It looks like most (possibly all) players who had level 60 gear before the announcement still have it. We're not talking about a handful of people here, apparently everyone who got their items before the announcement still have them. Are we supposed to send in hundreds upon hundreds of reports? Is it the playerbase's job to inspect each and every person they meet and file individual reports? Why? That is unrealistic and ridiculous. It'll never work.

We know that it's possible to remove items through the database. It has been done before. You can either delete them or simply change their required level to 61 or something. Why haven't they done this? How can it be up to the players to report eachother and catch the hundreds of individuals who have items they shouldn't have? If it comes to that, people will just stop wearing the stuff outside their raids/premades. How can you ever hope to catch everyone? It's beyond absurd. The devs made a mistake and promised to fix it, and they simply haven't.

I do understand it is frustrating to have to look and report these people, because it should definitely have been taken care of already by the devs... but here is what I found in a quick search on realmplayers.com of the higher ranked horde and alliance honor farmers. PLEASE TAKE THIS INFO WITH A GRAIN OF SALT! An in-game screenshot of their gear is all the devs will take as confirmation! I have no idea how often this is updated and how accurate it actually is, but the site does differentiate between the level 60 and level 58 gear, as you can see some of these players have purchased the level 58 gear recently, but still showing they are using the level 60 gear.

Horde:

http://realmplayers.com/CharacterViewer.aspx?realm=Ely&player=Youthanasia

http://realmplayers.com/CharacterViewer.aspx?realm=Ely&player=Josephinx

Alliance:

http://realmplayers.com/CharacterViewer.aspx?realm=Ely&player=Rhoxbeard

http://realmplayers.com/CharacterViewer.aspx?realm=Ely&player=Tierra

All four of these players are still using the level 60 pvp gear, in some form, according to whatever addon scans players, so if some of the higher honor farming players are still using them, I can only assume most people still have their level 60 pvp gear.

We will be rolling out a (final) hot-fix for the gear that has remained in-game soon, which hopefully should completely remove the gear from all of our realms.

It was obviously not something that was intended, and is on the top of our priority list to get resolved. I'd like to make that clear.

We sincerely apologize for any and all inconvenience that was caused.
