They are not saying they deserve the gear over others. By reserving gear it simply means that they are looking for members who do not need that particular piece of gear that they are reserving.

This is what you get to do:

• If you like reserved runs - do it.
• If you don't like reserved runs, then don't go.
• If you don't like reserved runs but still want to run an instance - make your own group, or join a group who isn't reserving items.

This is what you don't get to do:

• Tell other people how to play the game

 

The person reserving the item is in effect initiating a type of contract. Contracts have their positives and their negatives.

The positive of this contract for the offer-er is they get the item if it drops. The downside is they may not fill a group.

The positive for the potential party members considering the offer is that someone else is doing the work of making the group. The fact the item is reserved might be meaningless as they may not even be able to use the item. The negative of this is that the group may take longer to form, and may even have a poor composition.

As with any contract, participants are free to accept or reject the contract. Market forces over time will either inhibit or inflate this behavior depending on the free choice people make and the outcomes those participants experience.

If you want to diminish the right of people to exercise free choice by only allowing choices from options that you approve, perhaps your time would be better spent in politics.

The thing is... this is a forum. The OP tried to initiate a discussion.

But people flamed so aggressively that the discussion failed.

This is not about right or wrong. It is about sharing experiences and presenting opinions.

It is a shame that people constantly cancel any try of discussion and instead insist on their views as the "right" ones.

Nothing is wrong is any kind of runs. Want to reserve ? want to do only some bosses & rush some ? Any conditions are up to you, who create the group. Who likes it will join, who don't won't join, simple as that. No game rules for this, it's a choice.

I made a rogue i leveled to 60 in 6 days playtime for like a 30th time in vanilla.

After lvl 60 i got prebis quest rewards since i did them while leveling and formed my own reserved groups and got to prebis in one week. 

Now im raiding bwl with guild. I love min max and play with likeminded people. If i see someone not optimized or slacking during raid i call them out. 

To sum it up Your pace is up to you and what runs you join or not. But i enjoy runs where people use all their skills and abilities and know their classes inside out.

I have tanks and healers  in my friendlist that added me and will take me instead of mage or warlock any day

I had to do this to get raid ready asap because of reasons. Now on my alt mage im running dungeons withou reserves because i dont need to get to raids since he will be my pug raids alt anyways.

You keep saying people are flaming here. Frankly I think the discussion has been very reasonable with multiple very detailed examples of disagreement of OP's premise. Just because you are in the minority, like OP for what you hope to see from group behavior does not make this flaming.

I pondered about that and reread all my posts and well, I wrote a lot of sentences like "I agree that the person, [...]" or "I would argue". Nevertheless, I have got answers like "And who the fuck are you to tell people what they should and should not enjoy?" or "this Mahtan guy is an idiot.".

People are flaming here if you ask me ;)

 

Anyway. I promise you that this will be my last post in this thread. One cannot prevent people from thinking what they please.
