I dont know about you all but i rather pay $15 a month rather than wasting 3 hours each day trying to log onto the server getting ddosed.

I can't afford having all this down time because it's hard enough to play vanilla having limited time.

Why not just make the server p2p so you can afford ddos protection and stable servers, please.

If Blizzard with all it's money can't prevent ddos attacks then it's a bit much to expect a volunteer project to do better.

Even if you pay subs, I fail to see what difference it would make.

with 5 usd in certain countries ppl can live like 1 month, it should be based per country, and minimum wage, idea's nice, but lets think theres not only USA player in here.

and if you're so tired of being DDoS'd then leave the game, or switch servers temporarily. people think that because you make a new toon on another server, your old toon will be deleted. thats why everyone would rather bitch and moan instead of finding something else to do.

reroll a new toon

find another game to play

hit up a friend

theres a few suggestions for you to do instead of posting on the forums about server being down. Admin are posting on twitter/discord keeping you updated. as you can see they have a temp. decent fix and are spending the weekend creating a better more permenant one.

The DDOS protection has nothing to do with legality. This is a service sold by ISPs, who don't care at all what the server is for until they're hit with a legal threat of some kind. If you pay them for it, they will give it to you, regardless of what the server is for. The real factor is money. Blizzard can easily afford the maximum service from any ISPs, and also pay dedicated professionals for their staffs. Private servers cannot.

We are working on improving our DDoS mitigation. Unfortunately if someone is wealthy enough and/or dedicated enough, there is only so much we can do when under attack by large bot nets.
