theodora 0 Report post Posted March 9, 2017 what are some of your favorite area storylines in terms of lore? for example for me I always liked the tirisfal glade and silverpine forest storyline playing as a Forsaken, the story really links pretty well with the Warcraft 3 storyline.

Shmigy429 1 Report post Posted March 9, 2017 I think the Shimmering Flats quest hub is outstandingly well done, always a really fun part of leveling for me.
Ashocck 0 Report post Posted March 9, 2017 Nestingwary is good. I like how he pops up in so many xpacks, when you least expect him. Well, by now I do expect him in every xpack.
Oakenlix 79 Report post Posted March 9, 2017 I like STV quests for their casual style. No "Greater Evil", no burning legion, no epic disasters. Just ocean, sun and the jungles. And the pirates.

gotmilk0112 10 Report post Posted March 10, 2017 (edited) There's zone story lines in vanilla? I never really noticed, outside of the handful of really long chain quests. Like, when I think of Westfall and the quests there....none of them are really related to each other. There's the Defias quest chain, but outside of that, all of the quests are self-contained, and don't really have much story to them. That's one of the few things that retail does better: leveling zones actually have cohesive story lines, and a lot of the quests are related to each other. It's not just random quests to collect 10 bear asses, it's a clearly connected series of quests to collect 10 bear asses that have story tying them together. gotmilk0112 10 Report post Posted March 10, 2017 While Cata and beyond questing is nice for having actual storylines...it's also not nice, because it's way too streamlined. There's no exploration factor to questing anymore, the game just hurries you along, sending you from convenient quest hub to convenient quest hub. There are almost no quests that are off the beaten path; everything is right there and available to you with no travel or exploration required. And every 2 or 3 quests rewards you with a green or blue item that is specifically tailored to your class and spec.
qbradq 0 Report post Posted March 10, 2017 The Princess quest chain in Arathi really stands out to me. The one where you have to kill the demigod at the end. It gives you your first taste of the ancient lore of the game and was the first long quest chain I ran into as an Orc in Vanilla. Other than that I actually like how Westfall is setup. Most of the "unrelated" quests are there to set the mood of poverty and hopelessness brought on by the Defias Brotherhood. The zone culminates in a dungeon instance of the same theme where you get to kill the big baddie of the organization you've learned to hate over the past ten or so levels.
