Greetings Anathema,

We'd like to clarify the intentions and wording of the previous post regarding the Ahn'Qiraj opening. The aim was two-fold:

  1. Delay the opening event to allow for a greater number of players to participate in the event and to witness the one-time opening of the gates.
  2. To remove the raid reset bias for any particular timezone by removing the six guild limit for the mount reward by allowing anybody that finished the chain within the ten hour window to receive the mount.

To make it clear: given that a number of guilds (> 6) have managed to complete the grind before the raid IDs reset on Wednesday at roughly 11am ST (11am GMT+1, 2am PST, 5am EST, 6pm CST), the existing plan potentially locks a number of guilds out of receiving the mount due to inherent bias in raid reset times that's going to occur when you have guilds raiding in different time zones. The raid reset time is a consideration as a final BWL clear is required before the scepter chain can be completed.

The proposed delay for the opening event would be roughly 5-6 hours to allow for the server to hit peak hours.

With our intentions clarified, we'd like to ask you to cast your vote in the above poll. Your feedback is also welcomed.

Sincerely,
Elysium Staff

Edit: To answer a question asked in Discord, the instances will be available during the opening event.

i'd say delay it and watch the thousands of players ignite into smoldering ruin with hatred and disappointment...

but for real though, you guys wanted to go the snowflake non-blizzlike route for this event, no point in getting cold feet about it near the finish line. just open the gates and let it happen.

People have been waiting for AQ forever. The only reason to delay it is if it's not ready.

Release it as soon as possible. Don't wait just to let more people see it. The time for that would have been before you released the scepter quest, and guilds already put in the time and effort to unlock it on Wednesday, and PLANNED AROUND THAT.

Let the players open the gates as planned. Don't delay it artificially.

While I overlooked that specific aspect of the change between this post and the previous one, it changes nothing from my perspective. As stated in my post, there's no valid reason to delay further by any amount, be it days or hours. People have scheduled around the current plan, and having it mid-week will always mean many will miss out on it. Changing the timing only 1-2 days beforehand, so more people may be able to see it, is unacceptable to those who have already made their plans.

If you want to poll anyone about this, the only people who deserve to have a say are the people in guilds that will have their scepters completed before the delayed time. If random person #517 wants to delay the release so they can experience it, their opinion simply doesn't matter - that individual's want shouldn't trump the plans and desires of the people who actually put in the time and effort to open the gates.

Back on retail 12 years ago, I was in the guild on my server that opened the gates. I can't imagine how irate we would have been if, only a day or two before we finished, we were told that our schedule was out the window, so other people could experience the event. Fuck everything about that.

You limited it to 6 guilds. You set the timeline. You changed the questline. Enough changes. People made decisions based on the information you released. Some didn't bother trying to complete the quest. Others sacrificed to make it in time, to get the honor of hitting the gong and getting the rewards. It is past time to change more things.

This shouldn't even be up for discussion. Enough messing around with AQ already. Stick to the plan, and release the content as soon as any guild has finished the questline.

I understand the whole "bop" fragments to make it actually a challenge so you don't have 99999 mounts or random bank alts sitting on it ect.

The 10 hour window works because of the reason I just stated. One problem with this poll though , it's going to be skewed by the people that already completed it and have a group ready to go on reset. The people that already finished had up to hundreds ( ally and horde working together) so why would they vote that "everyone" can get it?

We've already waited several months for AQ, I'd rather wait a few more hours or even a few more days and get to participate in the gate opening event. I missed out on it back in original vanilla and don't plan on missing it again. I'd prefer not to have to wake up at 3 in the morning to participate. Let the 10~ people who put in all that work with their guilds to go ahead and get their mounts without having to wait and then have the event occur when the highest number of people will get to experience it.

in case of delay GONG timer up to EU peak AQ40 will be available for enter only at late night EU cos of 10 hours event that give 10 hours delay before opening. It's not fair cos moving AQ raid start to 27.04.17. It's not correct. Ppz rdy to push AQ40 right after resets. So please let the game begins right after reset ID.

How can you even consider letting everybody get it after stating only 6 will and even firing on the race through system messages with standings etc. This doesn't feel serious at all.

This is fucked up. A lot of people gave up on this because they calculated they had no chance to become one of the 6 to make it. And now, toward the end, you change it back?

Come on, that's messed up.

Leave it as it is and let the 6 guilds which manage to clear BWL first after the maintenance have their reward. Going back on your word with the 6 mount limit at this point is pretty weak.

The community in question that would miss out would be NA.

We are small but we exist, we would really like to have a chance to see the gates open sometime that isn't 6am our time when we're all headed to work or school or whatever.

Quite frankly personally I'd be fine with letting the ~10ish people all get their mounts since they put in ungodly amounts of time the last week. I'd also be fine with leaving it as is where the BWL raid ID resets at 10 server (1am pacific, 4am eastern) and the first 6 ppl to ring the gong get a mount. What I'd be upset about is if you pushed back the raid reset time, because if you delay the raid by those 5 hours, then NA is completely screwed. This means the entire east coast will be at work or in class and west coast will be about to leave for work/class and we will have zero chance. With the raid reseting at 1ampst/4amest we are going to be able to field ~30 of our own members and get help from ~10 other people to where we can realistically compete.

TLDR 10 hour window for all guilds to complete is fine, leaving it where the first 6 that clear at NORMAL reset time is fine, pushing back the reset time is NOT FINE AT ALL

P.S. I really really wish you had started this dialogue earlier, we have people taking days off of work for this thing and changing this around last minute is nervewracking after we have put in 20h+ each guild wide. The entire server has been planning around the normal reset scenario for weeks, please either do the normal reset or the ~10ish people all get their mounts within 10h.

Opening gates instantly is blizzlike. They should keep it as they intended the event is 10 hours everyone will experience whether they come late, do AQ first or w/e.

It would be retarded to change this 2 days before the event ends since many guilds gave up on it due to your initial rule of only 6 people getting the mount. Also funny how people were 100% against any change and crying on discord suddenly agree to this change since it basically guarantees that they get a mount(the 2 Reign kids on discord xd)

The guilds that gave up on it due to the 6 people limit didn't deserve a chance if they weren't willing to go deep in the paint for it due to being too casual. But tell me more about kids flip flopping when your 1st and only post on this forum is you complaining.

Assuming you're the guild leader of Reign, im complaining because of idiots like you who cry about being against any change 2 days before the event and then suddenly 30 mins later, WOW i like this change because it benefits us!!
