hots

Recommended Posts

could you implement the feature how hots used to work in classic?

back than you couldnt overwrite hots, if the hot was healing for more per tick than yours. if you tried you got the errormessage "a more powerful spell is already active".

doesnt seem like much, but for me it is an aspect of the game i want to have back, getting the most +heal and others not beeing able to overwrite it, letting healers strife to get the most +heal avialable.

the feature got removed with the bc preperation patch, after that you could just stack up as many hots as you wanted.

If this was indeed implemented with patch 1.12.2 then it would and should be considered a "bug" here. I dont know the reasoning why this hasnt been rolled-back, maybe an important change in the game core prevents it since the ManGoS core is from the start a reverse-engineered TBC version of the game.

Personally I dont recall how it was in vanilla as I only played as warrior back then.

I support this, if this was indeed the case in Vanilla as I personally can't remember.

@Storfan well its basicly the same message you get if you try to overwrite a 1h buff with a 30mins buff.

Alright then. Go make a bug report:D

It was this way in Vanilla. In the old Maxenna strats it talks about having your priest and druid with the most +heal put up there HoTs just before the stun.

Rebirth, a former vanilla classic server had that implemented. It helped a lot to replicate classic raid healing. Of course, during classic you were not able to override a heal over time if you had less +heal than the other caster.

As a part-time healing feral druid, I can tell you that this change would be a great quality of life change also. You can use addons (as a druid Druid Func for example) to prevent your character from casting Rejuvenation when another Rejuvenation is already active. But... that is just a work around for something that should be fixed to be blizzlike :D

Another thing are buffs.

For example I can buff someone with max rank Mark of the Wild with just Rank 1 Mark of the Wild to annoy that person. Not that I do that, but it is possible due to the missing "a more powerful spell is already active" message.

You can see this with a hunter especially. If you have two hunters and one concusive shots, the other can overwrite that with another concusive shot. If one of them does a wingclip, more powerful than concusive shot, if the other tries to concusive shot they will get a message that a more power spell is in effect. So, only equal debuffs and buffs will overwrite each other and a lesser will never overwrite a more powerful debuff or buff.

The problem for Elysium is so much deeper. Debuffs overwrite stronger debuffs where they should not overwrite them. For example a 1 second stun overwrites a 8 sec stun *lol*

So its not only heal over time effects but also buffs and debuffs that do not work regarding the "a more powerful spell is already active" logic that WoW had from the beginning!
