Gronnrock 0 Report post Posted June 14, 2017 Hello community of Elysium. (Before reading further I already apologize for my awefull english, I will do my best <3) I am scrolling within this forum and reading alot of negative stories. for example ganking... bots....bugs....inactive servers.... people bashing GM's..etc etc. As a new player on this project.... I would also love to hear the good things happening on Elysium,.. peoples adventures or good experience on this server. I just started some character on darrowshire. But im creating a character(that will become my main) on Elysium because I really want a bigger population. I used to play vanilla and went all the way to legion. Because I finnaly figured blizz ruined warcraft for me I stopped Legion. I am just so excited to get back into vanilla again. I already had the same nostalgic feeling I had from the old days and it feels so so so so good! Finnaly I can play the game again i fell in love with. I would love to hear your personal story of why you play here on Elysium and what you all think of it! I hope soon to find a nice guild so I can meet new people and make friends Also I am looking forward to emerge myself into the world of warcraft and meet alot of people. (maybe people think this thread is lame but I just searching for some more positivity on this forum) Greetings,.. Gronnrock I
Taipann 0 Report post Posted June 14, 2017 This is what is called the beginner's enthusiasm :D I had the same feelings, but now.. Im lvl 60 :( just joking, I love this server too ;) Welcome
Howdil 0 Report post Posted June 14, 2017 Vanilla creates an amazing community that let's you meet new people and actually become friends with them. Since there's no crossrealm bg's and instances you'll most likely meet people multiple times! Once you've played the game for a while you'll feel like you're a part of the community and constantly get introduced to friends of friends.. If you're coming home from a long workday you could simply jump into your guilds discord with no plans what so ever and end up having an amazing evening doing random shit with good friends that you've met ingame. That's what I love about this server!
Gronnrock 0 Report post Posted June 14, 2017 @Taipann Hahaha!!, welll it might be the beginners enthusiasm :D But I am having a blast and I hope that will stay forever. Thanks for the welcome! @Howdil You perfectly describe what I am looking for! That is something I missed alot in retail. And that is what I had when I used to play vanilla in the older days. I really hoping to find it again. That is exactly what makes this game great!
Guest Report post Posted June 14, 2017 5 hours ago, Gronnrock said: I am scrolling within this forum and reading alot of negative stories. for example ganking... bots....bugs....inactive servers.... people bashing GM's..etc etc. You have to understand that the members of the community who engage in non-game social platforms are a small percentage of the total population. You cannot take everything you read and see on the forums, Reddit, etc. to be the sum total of the possible experience here, but be willing to form your own opinion as you take the plunge yourself (which you apparently have, so welcome!). Besides, if you think the negative stories you hear are unique to Elysium? Every other project, every other game community, and even retail Vanilla WoW dealt with similar themes and 'salt'. You'll regularly hear about rage from the old days when classes were buffed, nerfed, content was cleared, guilds imploded, etc., and it's especially worth it to go hit up the Wayback machine and take a peek at some of the discussions going on then. It definitely wasn't all positive, I assure you. As for my own experience? A vast majority of the players I interact with have been courteous, understanding, and respectful - even the ones I've had to sanction seem to be aware of their behavior once it's singled out and tend to not take it beyond that. The whispers that deliver bad news to a player hoping for a positive answer more often than not end on a good note, and players will work with you if you engage them - you just have to be willing to accept that not all folks are rosey and don't let them negatively impact your overall experience.
Gnog 1 Report post Posted June 14, 2017 Here you go: This server is the best I've ever played on, for any MMO, including vanilla wow when it was retail. You need to ignore the tiny fraction of people who post negative things on these forums in moments of frustration.
szuszak 2 Report post Posted June 14, 2017 you also have to understand that most of the issues ppl are complaining about are actually true
Gronnrock 0 Report post Posted June 14, 2017 @Phoosy @Gnog @szuszak i totaly understand that all the negative things that is here on the forums is just a small fraction what is going on. And that they write that in moment of frustration and that it also is mostly true. But the point I was trying to make is that i read alot of negative threads (and that is logical because that is also what this platform is for), but I know there must be this big community on the server that tottaly enjoys the game. And I think it will be a great thing if people write more positive stories about why this game is so awesome, epic adventures, people they meet, guilds stories, funny wow jokes.. maybe a love story(i know..but they happen!)? It will make the community be more alive and gives alot of joy reading such stories... A well, I will atleast try to do this kind of stories in the future..first i need to start making my adventures from level 1. Goodnight its time for me to go sleep. Enjoy your adventures all
Gnog 1 Report post Posted June 14, 2017 I hear you. But honestly most people want to spend their free time in game enjoying these great servers, not on the forum writing about them. There are some great videos in the video section of the forum. Check those out as a start!

An4rki 3 Report post Posted June 16, 2017 What I have found is that most of the players are players who have previously played WoW and are experienced in instances. I started last month and a friend and I have started a little levelling guild on Darrowshire. We have had to PuG most instances but the Tanks and healers Ive played with know what they are doing. Vanilla is great, but playing with experienced players is most welcome too :)

For example, I was questing with this random mage and if we pull 3 mobs he knows when/what to sheep, cc or dps. I was really impressed with that (I just quit retail and there a lvl 11 mage barely knows what 'sheep' is) and also makes it more fun to play.

Kayla 10 Report post Posted June 18, 2017 I think now is great time to join Elysium. I have been here since August and for sure starting as Valkarie WoW and closing the server for a bit and then reopening with Nos and then losing Nos etc. and all of the nonsense that came with that it is easy to point fingers at why not to play on this Server. I believe someone already stated that you can't solely listen to Reddit on the opinion of Elysiums. WoW Servers on Reddit, the people there are Savage when you bring up Elysium, WoW Elysium Server on Reddit isn't too bad. I would get opinions of players who actually have been on this Server for awhile to get a feel for how it is here and def. those who are still playing here now. I also came from Retail and played there for a while before joining the Server opening day in August on Elysium and was by far a great choice. I personally don't regret it. I can't speak as much for the EU community but know its very strong here. I can however speak on about 90 percent of the NA community and all I can say is that the gaming experience here is better in every aspect that everyone else has mentioned for sure!
mrderekftw 0 Report post Posted June 18, 2017 (edited) Hi Gronnrock, I just started on Elysium today because I've been feeling major nostalgia for the old days playing WoW. Back at release of Vanilla I was just a kid and I remember being so blown away by the game. I couldn't stick to a toon though and ended up kind of falling off. I feel like I never did my gave my first toon (a Night Elf Hunter named Halfrugen) a good enough run, so I remade him today. The first few levels were hilarious fun. I was reading quest text out loud and laughing at some of the old quirks of the game. I got in my first party in the spider cave there with a very friendly chap who showed me where a quest giver was. We chatted a bit about our experiences with the game (we both played as kids) in between killing spiders. We added each other and went on our way. Kept on questing and had a few frustrating deaths at the hands of furbolgs (just the beginning of course, lol). When I was doing that quest at the furbolg camp where you farm the shamans, I noticed a bunch of players were competing for kills so I partied up with everyone in the camp. They were thankful that I took the initiative. With our combined efforts we crushed the camp and finished up the quest very fast. Everyone was very courteous and supportive. I took the quest where you hunt the satyr (in the cave behind town) and decided to run it solo. I died a couple of times but took down the boss easily enough. I saw a warrior-priest pair make some poor choices and wipe which I thought was kind of funny lol. I was a bit salty because they didn't invite me even though I helped them out. The funny thing about levels 1-9 is that you can't chat! The only communication you have are emotes and party invitations. Once you get in to a group then you can use party chat, but you have to get there first. So there I was in the cave trying to communicate with emotes and such. It was silly and fun! The absolute highlight of the day was running the big furbolg cave with another hunter that I met on my way in. They had played the game back in TBC and so we talked about all the memories that it brought back. That cave certainly caused a lot of frustration for us both! We were a pair of level 7 and 8 hunters with no pets so it was a bit of a slog--we died over ten times! But we had a really optimistic and joyous spirit about running it together. Because we were both so determined, we kept chugging forward after each wipe. We learned from our mistakes, improved our strategies, took the best encounters that we could, and suicided when neccessary to clear enough mobs to get through an area. In the end we collected every quest item, killed both bosses, found a chest, completed the quest you pick up inside, and took a level each before hearthing back to camp. That run definitely ranks up there among my funnest experiences playing video games online! Or just playing video games in general. So grateful to this community and the people running these servers to have created the opportunity to enjoy this game once again--perhaps, even, to enjoy it better than I did in the first place, Happy leveling, Derek Edited June 18, 2017 by mrderekftw
alexsiki 1 Report post Posted June 18, 2017 Love this server so much but the gold spammers really are a plague and have ruined the experience for me. As soon as you log on you get like a minimum of 3 whispers that you have to /ignore or you will be harassed every 5 minutes for the rest of your stay. They are also constantly spamming in trade channel as well.

But seeing an unexperienced player is also good to see. And then think these people must be blown away by the game how I was first time playing it. I wish you the best time on Darrowshire.

MacFierce 4 Report post Posted June 19, 2017 It's the greater internet fckwad theory man. Normal Person + Anonymity + an Audience = Total Fckwad! The server is freaking great. I'm loving it. And i must concur with those above about player quality. People that play here know their stuff. They play here because they have all played lots of retail and miss the game the way it once was. So you're not going to see too many noobs if any tbh.
