Disable world buffs in raid instances

Recommended Posts

While the ability to stack world buffs was available in retail, using world buffs like is currently being done was not really blizzlike.  The raids were not tuned for these massive buffs to the raid group and using these buffs allows shit stomping of raid content well past what gear levels/capabilities the raid has.

please consider at least letting the last raid that a lot of players play vanilla for (nax) to not be shit stomped with world buffs.

thank you

Not gonna happen, nor should it.

Want to not have the buffs for your raid?  Don't get them.  That was easy.

It's hard to find videos for a lot of Naxxramas progression in 2006, but here's a bit:

Curse first kill vs Sapphiron (ony head, ZG heart, warchief's blessing): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L7xktwZNL9E

Nihilum world first KT (ZG heart, warchief's blessing): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JFCvFepmQX0

Cool!  If that's the case, then remain blizzlike and put the CD on rallying cry.

2.5k pop isnt the same as 7k pop. it would be way harder to get your raid nef/ony buffed with this kind of pop.

Oh! A blue post but the thread is not locked. I am allowed to participate in the discussion! xD

Shouldn't you get the Sunflower-buff and then the plant disappears for an eternity? Somehow on Darrowshire masses of people get the buff for raiding and that smells like an abuse for me. I think only 1 person per plant should be able to get the buff. Compare it to herbalism nodes - it doesn't matter how many people herb it at once, only one person should get loot.

People also get Dire Maul buffs, which is fine, just to complete your list.

While the songflower buffing is on a thin line between exploiting and clever use of game mechanics. The admins have said its ok to do it because it is blizzlike behaviour of the buff

Hello. Here is a video on Archimonde(EU) of people trying to group buff songflower on retail (via countdown).

Here is a screenshot from retail on Lothar(EU).

This is why we use evidence for blizzlike effects rather than what people think.

Most guilds/raids didn't get buffs prior to most raids. We'd save ony heads and/or the ZG buff, but it wasn't until Naxx that some guilds started really coordinating the full use of world buffs prior to a raid. My guild, which cleared Naxx before TBC, did not go beyond the rallying cry and ZG buffs, because the time and effort and coordination was only efficient if you didn't wipe, and that's not how raids went for the vast majority of guilds at the time, even for those few of us able to clear Naxx - but there was talk of it, and we knew that the top guilds did it.

So, being able to do it is clearly blizzlike, even if it wasn't commonly done.

All the Felwood flowers were sharable. We regularly farmed nightdragons and tubers in small groups. If it was abusive, it was an abusive mechanic that wasn't addressed or changed for the entirety of retail vanilla in spite of being widely used.

I see no reason either should be changed.

This is very true.

Raid songflower buff is allowed as bliz-like, this is something that raids have coordinated back in retail and we allow it here.
