Aldarkh 0 Report post Posted September 24, 2017 Hi! I recently started to level a hunter. I like to pull mobs and send my pet at the mob at the same time. The problem is that I belive my pet should attack and growl the pulled mob when the mob is running to me, as my arrow will obviously hit the mob before my pet does. However, my pet runs at the mob while the mob is running to me, my pet does not attack or growl or anything untill the mob reaches me. I did this on my warlock, pulled with dots and send vw who would attack the mob with dots when it is running at me effectivly take aggro from me. With the hunter, I have to wait for my pet to reach my target before I can start attack. Is this normal? Why is the pet ”out of range” when the mob and pet passes eachother?
Zazabi 0 Report post Posted September 24, 2017 Probably has something to do with pathing and the fact that VW uses aoe taunt if I'm not mistaken..
Aldarkh 0 Report post Posted September 24, 2017 No the vw torment is the same mechanic as growl I belive, but the vw also has an aoe taunt. I use sn Owl btw it might have different pathing?
Moiz 0 Report post Posted September 24, 2017 I've noticed this. It always coincides with when the server has delay and never happens when the server is running smoothly (<6k). If i'm playing at peak times i always send the pet in first to counteract the issue.
Raziya 11 Report post Posted September 24, 2017 Pet in first is a good habit to have. Dash should help. When you hit level 30, go tame something that has Dash.
Roxanne Flowers 15 Report post Posted September 25, 2017 If you're using a flying Pet then you'll want Dive instead of Dash, but the logic still stands. If you're having trouble getting the Pet to engage, send them in first to attack and then once they land the first THEN you start shooting. If your Pet is on Defensive and you right click (to Auto Attack Melee engage) a target your Pet ought to try and tackle that specific target for you. If your Pet is on Passive they'll just stay parked beside you and ignore the fact that you're making stern faces with your weapons drawn at something downrange.
Raziya 11 Report post Posted September 25, 2017 Oh yeah, or wind serpents. They can zap things from 20 yds away, so even if it is some kind of lag issue, there's no way a mob will escape your serpent. Might be worth a try. You can find Dive rank 1 in Razorfen Kraul at level 30, and only there at level 30. Good luck.

Increases movement speed by 40% for 15 seconds. Kraul Bat (30-31 Elite, Razorfen Kraul) * Cower 3, Dive 1 Greater Kraul Bat (32 Elite, Razorfen Kraul) * Cower 3, Dive 1 Shrike Bat (38-39 Elite, Uldaman) * Cower 4, Dive 1, Screech 2 Young Mesa Buzzard (31-32, Arathi Highlands) * Dive 1 Mesa Buzzard (34-35, Arathi Highlands) * Dive 1 Wayward Buzzard (35-37, Badlands) * Dive 1 Dread Flyer (36-37, Desolace) * Dive 1 I simply waited until Level 31 and Tamed a Young Mesa Buzzard in the Arathi Highlands in the vicinity of Refuge Pointe. Much easier than messing around with the contents of RFK and trying to convince a group of 4 other people to NOT attack a Bat I'd want to Tame during a run.
Flexi 12 Report post Posted September 25, 2017 This happens to me during peak hours. Seem fine otherwise. I guess due to lag.
Discodolphin 1 Report post Posted September 25, 2017 This is 100% during peak hours where lag is a problem. I've been noticing this as well, the enemy will run towards you, but your pet will stutter by trying to attack standing still, then try to catch up and repeat that procedure again and again. If there's no lag the pet won't have to stutter step, probably since attacks/abilities go off instantly and it won't have to be caught in the limbo of constantly trying to stop to attack then try to catch up etc.
