Leveling after 1.4

Recommended Posts

I am at level 33 currently and leveling was already a chore. Now it is unbearable. I logged in for the first time after the patch and got stuck in Menethil for a good 20 minutes due to 5 higher level horde camping the town and killing everything. To make things worse my hearth is set there. After finally being able to get to STV I barely get into my quest before a group of 10+ horde steamroll the 4 allies in the area including myself. Why is everyone a full blown autist after the release of the honor system? I just want to level, but my current gameplay is the equivalent of riding an elevator up and down for hours.

Stop the QQ.  This is glorious and I'm loving all of the world pvp.  Raids on major cities every night, camping flight masters, killing quest givers, etc.  This is what this game should have been all about.

Actually, look me up.  I'm a level 53 right now playing horde side.  Last night, I died probably 10 times to alliance 60s and got 4 kills myself on guys my level.  So no, I'm not one of those 60s enjoying the lowbie slaughterfest (although when I see a flagged lvl 20 alliance ofc I kill him :P)

I'm 51 and in the same boat, not crying about it.  I just log onto an alt or corpse hop to where I'm going.  They're not getting honor off me so /shrug

Well Vanilla FTW.

I took my sexy "BloodyMarie" questing in stonetalon and surprise, didnt manage to complete 1 quest but was fun as hell scoring 123 kills in a couple of hours.

And im under 25. So i dont get your whining.

levels always have 2-3 points of interests (with same level area)

You cant quest in STV? go to SS / Arathi? go desolace? No one is forcine you to stay in stv.

Kill him some  more  ( gogo hordies!! corpse camp him !!! )

:)

Notice how you scored 123 kills ? Stonetalon is horde dominated. So I'm gonna go ahead and assume that your faction got the better of the exchange. PvP is always fun when you're winning. Even if you aren't completing quests, the satisfaction of beating down the opponent truncates not questing.

So all in all, major lack of objectivity in your argument, other than the suggestion to quest somewhere else. That is a valid point. But other than that, it's you saying you had a great time wrecking alliance in a horde dominated zone. Well, ya, no shit.

Welcome to vanilla

Enjoy your stay

The widely parroted "weclome to vanilla" defense is a flimsy one.  In retail vanilla you didn't have this high of a population on the server. It wasn't possible for the enemy faction to control every single one of your towns and fp.  Though it wears the skin of the vanilla experience, the population difference makes it anything but vanilla.  The game experience is crippled right now and until some of the virgins can release some of their frustration in battlegrounds I fear this is just how things are going to be.

Good point about vanilla server populations that I didn't consider. I believe the two servers I played on had between 2,000 and 2,500 online at peak in vanilla. Were about double that here +/-

so if i have a quest from Ashenvale to stonetalon , and i kill the quest mobs, and suddenly i see horde players. and i pause my quest mob killing to have some fun.

I pvp alone and i dont go to a zone for the PVP itself. i have quests there, but my point was , thats the beauty of contested zones! i didnt say i dont complete quests, i said i didnt got the chance to finish 1 single quest that night.

I killed 1 UD , 1 troll killed me. i came back killed the troll, Tauren and ud killed me . and so on and on and on .

at some point we were just running back and forth catching each other  off guard.

But yes , the main fact remanins All levels have at least 2-3 level area alternatives.

There experience given by the number of quests in Vanilla, is 8 times higher then the ammount of experience you actually need to get from 1 to 60.

Kind regards.

BloodyMarie.

Luckily I was 53 when the patch hit.  I tried questing but was getting nowhere.  I ended up grinding to 54 in an out of the way area, which was pretty slow, but much faster than my questing attempts.

From 54 on I've been grinding dungeons mostly.  The only time I would consider questing is when the population is under 2400.

If I wasnt close to mid 50s, I would have quit til BG patch.  Leveling is brutal.

It must be a different set of players playing on Elysium , even Nostalrius didn't have this much drama lol most people enjoyed it.

U know when the PvP patch was , u know when the BG patch is gonna be so why not choose a suitable class to your standards. If u hate getting ganked then choose a druid/rogue lol.

Yeah I'm a 50 mage and bought myself some invisibility potions. Fairly helpful if you don't get blindsided from behind (which is usually the case)

I have 2 higher level toons here - 1 shaman and 1 paladin  - and from my experience the alliance is ganking just as hard as horde. I try to play fair, I never participate in gank squads, and I keep my hands off grey;s but if you're AFK I see no reason to spare you! One kill, then I move on (if you selfres, I will ofcourse kill you again - if I can). Griefing and camping is bad, period. I see no reasons to ventilate my frustrations by killing helpless players of the opposite faction, but then again - it's just me. hang in there, when BG;s come there will be breathingroom for us :)

The real thing here is that players who like pvp have their server. What about the players who don't like pvp and are here just for pve? Where is the pve server? Is there a pve server coming or something. This is cancer right now and yes in your perspective is a pvp server but to my perspective and many others this is the only server.

I'm more or less impartial to it all. Yes, it is a bit disconcerting as it's turned into a more or less two steps forward one step back progression throughout my 40+ grind, but I understand that this is just part of the process and what we all implicitly signed up for when we joined the server. The upside is that I have still been able to progress as I have become more keen mitigating it. That may get progressively worse as I enter the level 50+ range as I hear that the later questing zones/grinding spots are the worst since level 60s can gain rank off of you at those levels. Once I can get into some higher level instances, I'll probably just aim my leveling focus there assuming I can fit the time for them into my schedule.

It is semi fun though not the low level ganking or the corpse/flight master camping parts though I see the argument both for and against it, but if I see another horde fighting an alliance I might join in the fray and help them out. And if some fellow guild mates want to do some PvP I might tag along with them for a bit. When I played in retail I never considered PvP at all because it never was my strong point nor did I really want to learn and get better at it, but as I've been more and more exposed to the world PvP environment I can find the curiosity in it to want to learn more and practice.

Overall, I'm optimistic :) . We'll see what happens...I'm sure I'll get to 60 at SOME point. And if that's not until after February 10th when BGs opens up, I'm totally fine with that.

Cheers!

The fact is, transitioning into the patch is obviously going to muster a lot more attention; I play around 8pm-1am us central time and rarely see above 2.5k. Obviously the weekends can get quite populated
