Walgrave 10 Report post Posted November 19, 2016 More fresh server concern trolling attempting to push an agenda. Lovely. What is the agenda here? That no fresh realm be opened? That would be ridiculous considering the exposure of the project. It is about the manner of opening a new realm without it monopolizing the mass leveling population long-term. Since the latest realm is the most attractive for new players - closer to equal footing. Anyway, it's probably too late for any of that discussion now.
Banezilla 2 Report post Posted November 19, 2016 It is kind of ugly having two identical realms competing with each other - seems like the fresh will drain the old at least temporarily. Wonder if a choice should have been made to either do fresh start for both PvE and PvP, or just bring back the old realms and pretend like Nost never went down. Drain the swamp, give your community what it wants and release all of the servers at the same time and see where everyone goes.

Ellipsea 36 Report post Posted November 20, 2016 (edited) There was tons of prognostication about realm pop on Nostalrius even as we grew. There were fears all around, particularly when the PvE realm was announced. We really didn't know anything. In the end, everything worked out fine. Accept maybe the over-population on the PvP realm, which some people loved and some people hated. If the Nost gang can re-establish the TBC work that was being done, all concerns about relative pop will be academic. So let's just wait and see what plans are put in place months after all servers are open. Also, cross-realm BGs would be impossible to implement until the servers are old and grey. PvP was at around 1.9 I think. PvE was at 1.5-6, and the new realm would be fresh. They will always have this disparity in patches, thereby making any fair battles between them unlikely. Can you imagine the fresh realm going into battle against thousands of r10's and above. It would be daily annilihation. : ) Edited November 20, 2016 by Ellipsea
Shayss 43 Report post Posted November 21, 2016 personally i dont see what the fuss is about cross realm BGs, (assuming they are all on the same content patch of course....) i always thought that was one of the more interesting decisions that went down. but i could be missing some vital info that destroys it as a credible idea... Server rivalries. Do not underestimate the importance of going up against people you hate or love. As I said above, cross realm was one of the first steps at removing street cred from players. There is no significance in ganking someone in retail, but in vanilla, that guy who ganks you you will probably see again and you can get your revenge.
Mililia 1 Report post Posted November 21, 2016 Worse case: Nostalrius Begins will have the population of a retail vanilla server. Default case: 20% of the level 60 population rerolls to the new server. The account trading market plummets for the first month after launch making filling raid spots easier.
