Make soloing Dire Maul less convenient

Recommended Posts

When soloing DM was really popular I remember watching hundreds of mages running between the DM instances single file almost in a perfect conga line.

What made farming DM really efficient?

When someone /camped out of the instance I believe it ported them to the beginning of the zone. Is that Blizzlike? I thought when you /camped out it should port you to your hearth location.

I'm not saying to eliminate DM soloing. I think it should be less convenient as mages can just /camp and be ported to the zone, or is that not how they do it?

From your link:

After you clear out the bottom part then you remove all your equipment and get yourself killed. Then you run back zone in.. equip yourself.. and reset the instance. Since each run takes a few minutes you shouldn't hit the instance limit. If you do then run through the zone to find more things to kill or make some serious attempts at Solo'ing a boss or sneak through to find more of the lone Demons that stealth around.

From your link:

well even if you suicide to mobs you can still do it in under 12 mins so you can still run 5 per hour regardless

It's not like it's a broken or OP source of gold or anything, especially seeing as you can only enter 5 instances per hour, and the clear takes under 10 minutes.

At best, it's like 60 gold per hour.

Is the usage of /camp porting the player to the front of the instance Blizzlike? It doesn't seem like it based on the link provided by vanillalord.

The suicide method to travel to the beginning of the instance seem perfectly acceptable. I guess the title of this thread should read: Make soloing Dire Maul Blizzlike

Why change anything about it? I thought this was blizzlike. Keep it the way it was intended, If it was that big on an issue back in the day blizz would have done more about it after the instance cap

It's not Blizzlike, look at vanillalord's link they used to suicide to exit. http://wow.allakhazam.com/forum.html?forum=243&mid=114621126032685784

May be the guy didn't know about the /camp command?

Those are the earliest sources of /camping out of an instance I could find. I doubt Blizzard changed this in TBC but who knows.

Vanillalord provided evidence from vanilla and you provided links from TBC. I'm still not buying it.
