Zionna 0 Report post Posted November 27, 2016 I was so excited about joining this group. I clicked the Torrent button from your download links and it crashed my computer with a virus. It kept playing a message over the speakers that my credit card information was now stolen and I needed to contact Microsoft. It also filled my screen with little clickable boxes. I shut off the computer and popped back on here to let you and others know.

cryofsorrow 5 Report post Posted November 27, 2016 Same deal here. The only difference was, my screen said "Follow the white rabbit." WTF???
Pottu 290 Report post Posted November 27, 2016 Please use Ublock Origin or some other adblocker - they are usually good for stopping such shenanigans.
Rugrats 0 Report post Posted November 27, 2016 I got mine long time ago, I am grateful now lol. Go to another site and get their client. This isn't the only vanilla server out there. Google it.
Jakira 22 Report post Posted November 27, 2016 I personally tested this link and I did not get any pop ups for that matter with the torrents. I would suggest getting an AdBlocker that stops those pop ups. Also, when one of those pop up, there should be a box that says do not allow more popups from this website, click that box and then click ok to close the window and it will remove that annoying box saying the FBI is coming.
Zionna 0 Report post Posted November 29, 2016 I appreciate the suggestions. I will see what I can find adblocker wise. I don't know why, but I have always associated the word torrent with something bad and scary. You never ever want to click a torrent. Or download anything off the internet that isn't from a well known verified site. I have never downloaded music or movies. You would think that I was in my 50's lol.
Zionna 0 Report post Posted November 29, 2016 Please use Ublock Origin or some other adblocker - they are usually good for stopping such shenanigans. I just downloaded UBlock. I tried to click the torrent again and it sends me to a different page that says this : The address wasn’t understood Firefox doesn’t know how to open this address, because one of the following protocols (magnet) isn’t associated with any program or is not allowed in this context. You might need to install other software to open this address. Any Ideas? Thanks!

The link is what is called a "magnet link", which is read by torrent programs. Personally, I use a torrent client called "Deluge". All you need to do is install it, and it will automatically associate magnet links with itself, and after that you just click the link and it will automatically open Deluge and let you start downloading.

Okay - I downloaded BitTorrent and so far things are working (downloadingly speaking). Currently it says it's "seeding". Thanks for your help! Zionna 0 Report post Posted November 29, 2016 (edited) Okay - the file I downloaded is a 5GB Photoshop file. It has no subfolders, like the realmlist one I'm looking for. Where is the game? Edited November 29, 2016 by Zionna
Deathbeckons 0 Report post Posted November 29, 2016 Ublock is definitely a must when surfing the web these days, and if you have already downloaded anything malicious you should get Malwarebytes. Install, run scan and remove threats, then you should be good to go.

Zionna, the file you have downloaded is what is called a .rar file, and it needs to be extracted first. You can use programs such as Winrar or Winzip, but I suggest you download 7-Zip. After installing 7-Zip, you can right click the WoW file you have downloaded, select 7-Zip then either extract here (which will extract wow in the folder you are in) or extract files, then you can choose where to extract. After the extraction is complete you should be able to see all the files you need including the realmlist.wtf Edited November 29, 2016 by Deathbeckons

I even downloaded BC and WOTLK to play while I am waiting for the new servers here to open up. Thanks for your help!
