Xykaru 1 Report post Posted November 30, 2016 (edited) Let's face it - the fresh realm is going to be utter madness. Which, coincidentally is AWESOME! Errbody is going to be using Joanas guide (exactly what happened on Nost, everyone was running the same exact quest routes) I'm just wondering if, because of the downtime we'll experience trying to get that first hit on a world miniboss for a quest/certain mobs for quest drops or even grinding in general, it might be infinitely more viable to speedrun dungeons for XP. I'm going to rush to 14-16 and see if I can't get a solid group for backtoback RFC, then WC, then SFK, so on so fourth. I love speedfarming dungeons. Maybe I'll make a guild dedicated to farming dungeons for XP and gear. Edited November 30, 2016 by Xykaru
Wirago 8 Report post Posted November 30, 2016 It will be probably the same as on retail during the start of a new addon. Questmobs will be overfarmed, start areas will be crowded. The idea of leveling though dungeons was also on retail around. But this issue will be a matter of days. The world is big, people will spread. And I will go fishing in the meantime
rikkisix 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2016 Nost was pretty mad with the population bloom Most people will quit early and roll on the older server and only true machonist will stay on there, or dynamtic respawn will save the day. They should add in a mode for the fresh realm that it's Undead VS everyone and everytime an Undead player kills some one they turn Undead.
WonderBread 4 Report post Posted November 30, 2016 (edited) Speed running dungeons would be worse than finding a spot to grind at and grinding. If its xp/hr your after that is.. Edited November 30, 2016 by WonderBread

Lootolf 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2016 XP/HR in Dungeons is really shitty. Only visit a dungeon when you got all the quests for it. Then its worth it.
Xykaru 1 Report post Posted November 30, 2016 (edited) I remember playing Nost months after its release and the starting zones all the way up to level 30, sometimes even in the 40's, were farmed indefinitely by crowds of people. Although dungeon xp/hr can be pretty lame, with a fast group it's not bad, as long as everyone is on the same page of raw efficiency. Anyways, the gear can be very worth. I'm just thinking that running dungeons and getting constant xp/hr could be much better than running around hoping to god you can catch a mob when it spawns before anybody else does. Not gonna lie, I'm going to Duskwood when I'm 26 so that I can farm mobs AND people :D:D (Rolling UD mage like 90% of the rest of the population) Edit: I know they're upping spawn rates early on, I'm wondering if that'll even make much of a difference with the amount of people. Barrens are going to be a delicious slice of hell trying to quest/grind Edited November 30, 2016 by Xykaru
Danko 1 Report post Posted November 30, 2016 You will be better off getting into a group that will grind higher level mobs than doing regular quests at the launch.
Nawa 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2016 Think it's a lot of grinding necessary. Focussing on questmobs alone won't do it.
rikkisix 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2016 Group up for every quest if not grinding when leveling fresh, make friends early and offten and it won't be hell. Slow yes.
ninten 2 Report post Posted November 30, 2016 No, not everyone will be using Joanas guide. Some people actaully choose to quest the way you're supposed to. There's no way for you to keep track of what route everbody's taking. Just because people are killing the same mobs like you does not mean they are a sheep like you.

It's better to get a group going to farm mobs than doing dungeons.

Pishy 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2016 (edited) This thread basically proofs that the whole project in it's core has nothing to do with blizzlike vanilla. Back then when the game launched there was no terms like XP/HR and grinding dungeons just to get xp, grinding high mobs in grinding groups, skipping quests (u have to on Nost of course), and a PURE STUPID RACE TO 60. Just pointing out that this is not what vanilla was about back then and so communicating that this is all about vanilla blizzlike experience is just wrong. Escpecially people who never ever had a chance to experience true vanilla won't have the chance with this project either! I'm not hating, just keeping it real and being dead honest. There was a player cap on each realm of around 2,5k-ish for good reason. Servers with 15k people did NOT exist. Not Blizzlike vanilla at all. The Nost PvE server was the only realm 100% blizzlike. I'M HYPED THO, WANNA PLAY ! Edited November 30, 2016 by Pishy

Today almost everyone has internet access unlike it was 10 years ago 2) Playstyle changed. Today there is so much competition. First lvl 60, Server frist boss kill, server first xy and so on. Thats nothing a server can change. That's how the players changed. Some will race for it, others wont
ohsnoes 0 Report post Posted November 30, 2016 When the fresh start PvP realm opens, does anyone have any tips on how to make the first 6 levels as painless as possible? I have never been on when a server has just opened up. I heard some talk about getting a group of five and then killing the mobs just outside of the starting zone (5-8), how much exp is that? or is that nothing? Sorry to bother you all and thank you for your time

Tholren 7 Report post Posted December 1, 2016 People seem way too concerned about this. If anything, this might set you back a few hours, and looking at the average 250 hours played time required to reach 60, it doesn't really matter.
taladril 43 Report post Posted December 1, 2016 Starting fresh on the new server will be crazy. It will be much much crazier than when we started fresh on Nost. Nost released with about 3k constant population. The starting zones were a zoo and it took many levels to even be able to choose to go to the areas that were off the beaten path and even they were zoos. Stranglethorn... someone around here equated that to Vietnam. Yeah that seems too true. I took one look at how bad it was populated and I went elsewhere. And I know I was on the leading edge of the bell curve of leveling so god help the people that were slightly slower. Now all of that was crazy but manageable. What do you think the new servers pop will be? 3k? Unlikely. 6k? 8? 10? 6 would be DOUBLE what we dealt with. Can you imagine twice as many people? 9k would be three times the number. At a certain point population goes from fun to cool to not good rapidly. I think there's going to be a lot of people that should consider that starting fresh on the fresh server may not be as appealing as they are making it out to be. As the server grew, we got used to having a pop of 8-10k. We did not start out with a pop like that. I'm not concerned for any of the servers but I think a lot of you who are excited for the new realm are underestimating what the effect is going to be because of the hype.
