Alkaizer 0 Report post Posted December 11, 2016 Greetings Elysium Community, I am looking to play as rogue on the PvP server but the question I have is wither this Private server is a Vanilla server only or well they progress through TBC. Thank You, Alkaizer

arbet 9 Report post Posted December 11, 2016 Vanilla but they are open to the idea of moving to TBC later down the line if they think it's what the community wants.

Tholren 7 Report post Posted December 11, 2016 If they do TBC, it will take a long, long time. So don't necessarily plan anything around that. Yes..Yes! No more rogues! The warglaives are mine! mhuhahahahah!
Ellipsea 36 Report post Posted December 11, 2016 Latest answer is this one by Nano, and it pretty much confirms, yes. At some point in the distant future it will be announced again as it was on original Nost. I mean tons of the work is already there, so why wouldn't they? https://forum.elysium-project.org/index.php?showtopic=23899
arbet 9 Report post Posted December 11, 2016 As long as they offered us the option to stay in vanilla I don't think it would be a problem.

This will take atleast 2 years before completion and even then I doubt they would just bump out a TBC server after Naxx cleared.
Danko 1 Report post Posted December 11, 2016 I think tbc will come, but its not coming out soon, maybe in like 3+ years.
Ellipsea 36 Report post Posted December 11, 2016 I guess they could just make two copies of the same DB and host them separately, one with TBC and one without. But would they want to? dunno, I don't understand whatever hardward issues theyd have.

Papajimboh 12 Report post Posted December 12, 2016 As long as they offered us the option to stay in vanilla I don't think it would be a problem. This. It would be best implemented by adding a new BC server that allows you to either start a new toon or copy (COPY, not TRANSFER) a character from the Vanilla realm over to progress through BC.
Vasagi 0 Report post Posted December 12, 2016 I guess they could just make two copies of the same DB and host them separately, one with TBC and one without. But would they want to? dunno, I don't understand whatever hardward issues theyd have. Seems like the most rational option for any server that releases without indicating the intent to add expansions in the future would be to make a copy and give players a choice. Have a character continue at vanilla-only (or event TBC if one progresses to WotLK) or make a copy that goes on to the progressive server. Now if developers indicate the plan is to progress through expansions in the first place, then there would be no need to copy and players have an idea of what to expect down the road (assuming a server lasts that long).
Ellipsea 36 Report post Posted December 12, 2016 (edited) It's hard to make prediction about timelines, but if you look to Nost as an example, work and testing was already underway when Nost PvP was at what 1.7? That's not necessarily a blueprint but it does point to alternate timelines from the "long road". http://forum.nostalrius.org/viewtopic.php?f=85&t=39929 I think we still have to adjust expectations to the Elysium PvP server's vanilla timeline. But I wouldn't rule out the possibility of seeing TBC in a reasonable time. We're going to have the largest pool of testers ever, but I personally have no idea about the resilience and size of Devs and supporting staff. I mean, hey, we got Nano. so, should be all good. : ) Edited December 12, 2016 by Ellipsea
