peremi 0 Report post Posted December 13, 2016 Details - https://www.reddit.com/r/wowservers/comments/5i3fwa/field_of_view_fix_for_1121_pics_explanation/?st=iwnpq24f&sh=979534bb This fix was implemented since WOTLK but Vanilla and TBC clients suffer from this. So will we be able to apply this "fix" so our field of view adjusts appropriately to our widescreen monitors? or is this bannable? Regards,
arbet 9 Report post Posted December 13, 2016 (edited) I dunno if it involves stuff which is bannable but I don't see the difference? I understand the Paint drawing but I've not experienced this in game? Nostalrius view didn't look any different from retail view, or am I going crazy? Apart from the fact the camera zooms out a bit further in newer xpacs. The images in that link are identical so I'm really confused haha. Tholren 7 Report post Posted December 13, 2016 I don't think it's something you can get banned for since it doesn't modify any files directly. But you never know, just wait for an official reply.
Mozz 0 Report post Posted December 13, 2016 Didn't even notice this on Nost. Can't see why it would get you banned.
Lorilay 12 Report post Posted December 13, 2016 It does modify a RAM address while it's running, so I'm curious if it will flag anticheat or not.
peremi 0 Report post Posted December 13, 2016 It does modify a RAM address while it's running, so I'm curious if it will flag anticheat or not. exactly, here is the readme regarding technical details technical details: Camera pointer in Vanilla is a double pointer. The first pointer is at 0xB4B2BC and has an offset of 0x65B8. The second pointer points to the camera memory block, and the offset to Fov from there is 0x40. Fov is a float value.
Athena 3 Report post Posted December 13, 2016 (edited) To be exact, Either way, I have always needed this to be able to play with 3 monitors. Here is my version resulting in a similar tool. It runs in the background if you minimize it (in your tasktray, so you can even make it start as you boot Windows if you want to, so you don't have to manually open it after rebooting Windows). You can change the default FOV either by modifying Settings.ini or by clicking on the tray icon so the UI opens which allows you to edit the "desired FOV" in the range that WoW can work with. You make it apply the FOV fix by pressing CTRL+SHIFT and / (should be at your numpad on the right side of your keyboard). Note that everyone who is saying things like "only applies a memory edit and no files so it should be allowed" is an idiot and doesn't know much about "gamehacking". Nostalrius never scanned for this address, but if they want to they can and you're account is gone. Edited December 14, 2016 by Athena

arbet 9 Report post Posted December 13, 2016 (edited) the image is a gif, wait like 1,2seconds and it will change Ah, the computer I looked at it on can't display gifs. I see it now. in my opinion the lower FOV looks better. Edited December 13, 2016 by arbet
Rayaleith 2 Report post Posted December 14, 2016 We would like an answer from the developers here. I mean if it triggers any anti-cheat mechanism, please say it so.

Destron 2 Report post Posted December 14, 2016 It seems like this involved changing of game files. The stance on that has been that it isn't allowed out of fear that if they allow certain changes that are innocuous it opens the door to malicious changes. Maybe they revisit this sort of thing once the servers are up and running smoothly.
Guryev 1 Report post Posted December 14, 2016 this was possible to do on both of the old nost and elysium servers. hoping it will work here, vanilla fov looks nuts now

Either way, we just want to hear an official yes/no so we can get this out of the way
Tamanous 0 Report post Posted December 15, 2016 I like to know as well if wav files modified are allowed. Specifically No_ErrorSounds which is stop the sound from ability mashing (due to macros).
Undertanker 88 Report post Posted December 15, 2016 There are add-ons that turn that off for you (the red system message) and in the audio settings there is a box that you can just click to turn off that - doesn't need an add-on.
Tact 0 Report post Posted December 15, 2016 Yeah, an official reply would be great. Pottu closed another thread asking the same question the other day - referring him to this thread... So Pottu has at least seen the question. The delayed response is probably testing if this would actually trigger the anti-cheat.
