why is everyone so afraid to blame the gold sellers? So everyone has to suffer because of the people who NEED to use VPN's, all because the gold sellers are too selfish to stop what they do.

You can just 'ban VPNs'. There's no way to reliably detect that someone connects from a VPN.

 

It's always the same. People are stupid and have NO IDEA, and suggest a SOLUTION. No, you don't suggest a solution, you may state the Problem. And that's it. Maybe somebody smarter than you will find a solution.

Sorry dude, but while there is merit in encouraging people to have "strong" passwords and manage their cyber security attentively, it is completely lost in this situation because the punishment doesn't fit the crime.

I'm sure everyone believes in second chances... but this is a video game, not your real life. If you don't make players responsible like people should be in real life then players don't care as much, leading to more hacks, account sharing etc. all of which a volenteer staff will have contend with....

I know it sucks, I know we hope it doesn't happen to us. But hey, if you're responsible you'll be 100% fine. Make a difficult password that you'll remember, only use it here and no where else. Also 2 step your email to avoid anyone getting into your email and also use a unique password for that. Always scan for viruses on AddOns you download, aka USE YOUR BRAIN.

Not hard, just be responsible, the world and game world would be a much better place if people were responsible.

No idea what you are trying to say, but i logged on kronos with a publicvpn service. Its technically not feasible. One could just rent a server and connect through it, even if some1 banned vpn services.

If they do not know the hashes or the salts, it's gonna be extremely time consuming to crack a for example password with 12 length mixed with chars and digits. Since a shitton of people have gotten their accounts compromised, I'm 110% this is not some lone hacker brute forcing passwords.. Most likely some фекал money hungry server like for example Feenix sold off their database, hashes, salts everything to someone willing to pay enough. What they got is a bunch of accounts that people probably use the same username and password on 4 other projects and now their accounts are obviously compromised.

What did the token website say when you generated your tokens? "Change password! Use unique password etc.". Creating new account? "Use unique password!". Elysium have done what they can and warned people but if they do not wanna follow advice the burden is on them. Sorry to say but the fault lies entirely in the users not putting thoughts in their account security. Let it be a lesson learned, it sucks but it's not Elysiums fault you use same password on all your personal accounts.

I am a legitimate player here, I just started the other day, I am currently almost level 17, and I love the server.  However, I DO LIVE IN CHINA and it is for WORK, but I must use a vpn to connect to the server.  I am not going around spamming you to buy gold nor am I doing anything wrong other than enjoying the server for what it is.  I am sorry you have a problem with gold spammers, don't buy the damn gold and you won't get in trouble.  It is just a spam message, which you can simply ignore, but taking away my ability to play on the server frustrates me beyond belief just because you feel you are entitled, guess what buddy, you aren't.  Everyone can enjoy the game the same way, and the account hacking is due to your own negligence.

If you keep a well-updated (daily) list of keywords that get auto-spam filtered, or perhaps an account suspension, when used in chat that includes phrases that are common in goldseller advertisements while being unlikely to be used in general conversation, that could be a start.

I can see it from both sides; I can see plenty of reasons between ping, traffic management, etc that a VPN is a viable, useful solution to dealing with a subpar connection. In addition, there's no guarantee that the accounts used for goldspamming are using VPNs. 

In my personal opinion, an outright disabling of VPN connections would do more harm to the legitimate players affected than to goldspam.

It's not the spam you dumb fuck. It's them taking up server slots and in general just making it awful for everyone else. I love being told I'm entitled by someone that is crying because they won't get to play. You sure we're the entitled ones?

if you require a VPN to use a service, how are you a legit user?

allowing VPNs is like giving every citizen a machine gun, because some cannot sleep without having one. but creating a threat for everyone else.

VPNs are tools to allow you something you are not meant to do. illegal stuff. and if its illegal in china to play here, its not elysiums duty to help you bypass your goverments walls, which also allows many others to abuse VPNs to every legit players disadvantage.

i can understand those ppl and i feel sorry for them to have to live in china, but thats not our business. VPNs have to be shut out for everyones else wellbeing
