Remove pre 1.4 Mounts on Nost PvE/PvP

Greetings.

 

As probably everyone knows, former Nostalrius offered the pre 1.4 mounts for 1 more week once patch 1.5 got applied on the PvP and PvE server to allow every race to achieve the exalted reputation and their dream mount through cloth donations.

 

Not long before Nostalrius shutdown announcement and the actual shutdown patch 1.5 was released on the PvE server. With this patch the Nostalrius devs made the pre 1.4 mounts available in a BoP and a BoE version on the mount vendors. You needed to be either the race of the faction you are interested in, or hit exalted with them within the week you had.

 

I was able to reach exalted and have bought myself the Ivory raptor in one BoP and one BoE version. After relaunch the pre 1.4 mounts were still available in their BoP version from the specific mount vendors. After speaking with several Gamemasters about this, they have confirmed that they should be removed soon.

Not that I disagree with having them available for a bit longer, but its only the BoP version available, the BoE version is missing.

 

After looking further into it, it seems that even on the PvP server all pre 1.4 mounts were actually available on the mount vendors again, even though the PvP server is on patch 1.8.

A similar issue happened on PvP late january/early february. All pre 1.4 mounts purchased during this issue were removed by the admins and the players received the gold they paid back.

 

Apparently a lot of players "abused" this issue once again on the PvP server and are currently able to keep the mounts they have bought. Unfortunately this kind of ruins the rarity and speciality of pre 1.4 mounts, because they show that you played since the earlier timeline & were dedicated enough to achieve those, or that you most likely paid a huge amount of gold for the BoE version.

 

I would appreciate if the staff could look into this properly and decide how to handle the situation. It would also be great to know how long the staff plans to let the pre 1.4 mounts available on the PvE server.

That is not how it is.

 

The pre 1.4 mounts show dedication, that is all. They're an important part of the server progression.

 

I know they have more important issues, but this is an issue too.

Just ignore the issue if you get triggered that easily by a normal suggestion.

As someone who spent nearly a thousand gold and dozens of hours getting the reputation required before cloth turns in were added, it is extremely unfair to those who were determined enough to suddenly have all their work look like nothing.

This should be a no-brainer. If you saw someone with the old mounts (I personally do not use them) you know they were one of the early players of the server, much like every blizzard server ever. It is basically a collectible item, for when they are no longer produced. For some reason, the staff decided to publicly announce that it was OK to buy pre-1.4 mounts, letting those who had no idea that it was bugged to go and buy it. It is clearly the bigger mistake by the staff, than the actual bug, encouraging the devaluation of a collectible item. 

Anyway, it is clear cosmetic stuff don't matter. If it was an item with stats, they'd have you remove them (with the scary ban hammer) like the AQ quest The Calling being completed without requirements bug on Old Nost. That was actually harder to fix, because ppl vendered these items/DEed them and were told to delete shards/remove gold - without really tracking this. Yet it worked, no one wanted to lose their chars over some NR blues.

I personally want to know the thought process of why it was encouraged to abuse this bug instead of the banhammer scare/bluff approach? The concern here is the reaction of the staff to a bug, as opposed to the bug itself.

The only excuse I can think of is that it was server launch and bad calls were made, yet these are not irreversible actions, why is nothing being done to correct Staff mistakes?

It crazy how every damn subject in the Suggestions part get instantly criticized, all you guys can say is "not gonna happen duh". I admitt that some suggestions would ruin the vanilla spirit but damn, this topic is pretty legit why would react that way?
