Is the Nost PvP economy screwed up? CHEAP Arcane crystals

Back when I was playing retail vanilla in the MC/BWL days, Arcane crystals were easily 100+ gold. I noticed yesterday that there are a TON of arcane crystals on the Horde AH at around 12g each. Is this a sign that the auction economy is just screwed up and everything is super cheap? Are there just hundreds of people farming these things non stop? That sounds kind of discouraging.

I do admit arcane crystals price are below what they should be from retail vanilla, but they did not go anywhere near 100g at least on the servers I played on.

That's slightly lower than normal. Don't think I've ever even heard of them going up to 100g before though.

Well, there's just much more Arcanite around than what people have use for, I suppose?

This is typical -- once raid progression surpasses Arcanite Reaper item levels, the demand for arcane crystals decreases.  This is why Herbalism always out-earns Mining as a server ages/progresses -- demand for raiding pots/flasks is consistent (increasing, even), but demand for Arcanite Reapers tapers off as more and more players get Untamed Blades and Ashkhandis.

There's zero demand for an arcanite weapon once AV is out. You may as well rep up the freebie purple rather than pay out the ass for an inferior blue. AV btw also pops veins, and these are bonus veins for the population, not part of the outside world. This means that a bigger population can easily get an inflation of thorium by farming it in AVs. More people, more AVs, more ore, a circular situation. Then you've got DME, which brought with it vein farm runs. Again, these are not part of the outside world, and it's a guaranteed 2 rich veins per run. These used to be popular, but have since become rare, due to the sink in value of thorium veins. Personally I'd suggest AV anyway, because of the rep, unless you're already exalted. Unless your rep is done, you should get your thorium in here.

Like others said that the supply is greater than the demand.   With ZG out, PVPers can Pug or run it with guild for Zin'rokh, Destroyer of Worlds which is much better.  So this leaves you with your demand coming from fury warriors and TPS tanks that need Lionheart Helm as Titanic Leggings are not out yet.  

Other than that, the bars are then stored by guild banks for Legendaries (100x for Thunderfury, 50x for HoR), and eventually for AQ40 Imperial Qiraji Armament and Imperial Qiraji Regalia for select classes.  

Beyond this, they are then used as apart of the Naxx Token turn-ins for obtaining T-3 loot for certain classes, though only take 1 or 2 per T-3 token for classes that require them.

When a server first all needs Lionheart, the demand is high, therefore the prices as well.   It simply isn't the case.  Before shutdown in April 2016, the prices averaged 15 gold, though in July of 2015 they were around 25 gold.

AC prices don't upscale for demand until Naxx patch. They're required for attunement quests + t3

On my server on retail they xoates around 30-45g if i remember correctly.
